Chapter Forty-One

Azania

I stand in front of Emily's grave and place the roses on to her headstone. There's nothing Emily about this, just a headstone with her name on it. That's about it.

I wasn't good to her. I don't deserve to be here, but I am anyway. "Didn't expect to see you here." Someone says from behind me and I whip my head around. "Hello, Noah." I say.

"It's been a long time." "Yeah. It has." It's weird seeing him again, I mean it was such a mess the last time I saw him. Not that I'm any better now, but.

He walks towards the grave, and places the flowers that he had in his hands onto the headstone. "I miss her like crazy." He says in a soft voice.

"I miss her too." "How have you been?" I'm not really sure how to answer that question, but the best word I can describe my state is now.

"I'm fine. How have you been doing?" "I've been doing good moving into the dorms and doing school and all."

Noah got into the same school as my brother. I'm surprised that he's here, but if he's here then that means. "Is my brother here with you?" "No, unfortunately not.

He had to stay behind. He wanted to surprise you, but he just couldn't make it. I'm sorry." Noah says.

"It's totally fine, I get it. He's probably super busy with college and stuff." "Yeah, but I'm sorry regardless." "Well, it was good seeing you, Noah." I say before walking off.

I wasn't exactly sure how to feel looking at Noah. I mean, he did confess his love to me and I straight up rejected him, but I don't hate the guy. He's a really good guy and whoever gets with him is very lucky.

"Guys, I think we finally hit the jackpot. I managed to get a photo of Aurora. Don't ask me how, I just did." I said as I placed the photo in Natalia's hand. "Woah, you were not wrong. She looks exactly like you, the hottest girl in Steyn City." Natalia passes the photo around.

Sky already knew what Aurora looked like. She was the one who looked with me in the library. "The resemblance is uncanny. Are you sure you're not secretly related?" Sarah asked me, teasing me.

"No, I'm definitely sure I'm not a Steyn, but it would be nice to have a secret grandfather who's a billionaire." "You could definitely act like you are. No one would question it. I mean, you two look exactly a like right down to the very last detail." Natalia says.

I act like I thought about it for five seconds before I say. "No thank you. I want to stay away from the drama." "While speaking on the topic of Aurora, I have heard some interesting rumors about her." Sarah says. "Do pray tell? We need as much information as possible."

"I'm sure you've heard, but apparently she had a secret relationship with a teacher." "Ah, a teachers pet eh?" I say. "Interesting, I heard that she had a secret lover so I guess they might be one in the same." Natalia says.

"Well I heard that she was engaged to Steyn's second hand man, which is weird because he's super old." Sky says. "I think that's true. I feel like I've seen something about it online Aurora being betrothed to Steyn's second hand man." Sarah says.

"And I also think Aurora being locked up before she died is true. People said that they barely saw her leave the house. Before she tragically was murdered. They say it was because the family was suspecting a stalker, but I don't know if that's really the case." I say.

"That is what it says on the case files, but we already know not to trust any of that. Steyn would do anything to keep his reputation clean. I would not be surprised if he would fake the documents." Natalia says.

"And if that really is the case and he did fake the documents, the real documents have to be somewhere. Somewhere close to him.

Somewhere he can reach at any time that he wants and he wouldn't have it protected by someone else because he wouldn't trust anybody else with that secret.

What happened to Aurora is something that we don't know, but I feel as though Steyn had something to do with her murder only. Why would he do that?" I say. and for some reason, a faceless boy popped up into my head.

The same boy that I haven't seen in a long time. "The secret lover." I whisper. "What about the teacher?" Natalia asks. "What if the secret lover isn't the teacher?" I say.

"You mean that they're two separate people?" Sarah says. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. What if she was trying to cover up something with the teacher but she had another lover, someone's secret and they ended up being mushed together because nobody knew about it, and they assumed that the teacher would be the perfect suspect.

What if he wasn't? Think about it, saving money to run away. For what reason would you want to do that? run away from her perfect little life. Other than love? She was in love with somebody who probably wasn't even worthy and so she wanted to run away.

She would go to the lengths of working night shifts at a club to do so. She was saving up money." I say. "Wait, wait. But what would she need the teacher for?" Sarah asks. "It was all a cover up." Nicholas says.

"Just in case anybody finds out that her secret relationship, they would immediately assume that it is her teacher, but in reality it's somebody else. But who could it be? Who could it be? She was barely with any guys.

She wanted to steer clear of the drama because she's supposed to be perfect. She wanted to run away but Steyn ended up locking her up. That old dude that I killed tried to save her. What if Steyn found out about the secret lover and the locked her up for it?

But that wouldn't make any sense. Why would he walk her up just to do that? Unless he found out about her plans of running away. But that wouldn't help with the situation. He couldn't lock her up forever. So that was a temporary solution.

What was he temporarily trying to hide about Aurora?" "What could possibly be temporary enough to be bad enough for Steyn to want to hide his daughter away, to ruin the perfect image that he carefully crafted for her throughout the years.

I mean, dating your teacher is one. But he could have just fired the teacher and said that the teacher forced himself on Aurora.

As for the secret lover, he could have easily kicked the lover out of the estate and be done with it. What could it have been?" Sarah says.

"There's definitely something that we're missing here in this whole big equation. Something just doesn't make sense." I say. "Well, we can definitely find out the at masquerade ball that's happening for Halloween." Mike says.

"Oh yes, the sweet Halloween ball. Why did it have to be on my birthday?" I say. "Either way, we can get our answers from there.

There's going to be lots of rich and wealthy people that have been in the Steyn City for a long time and it seems the more rich the person is the more information they know about Aurora and so we can get all the information that way." Natalia says.

"Yeah, you're completely right. I guess we'll have to wait for the masquerade ball. It's not that far. It's you're going to be interesting." I had a little idea of what my outfit was going to be like , but I didn't want to spoil the surprise, so I kept it to myself.
