Nick
It's August now and we still haven't won anything on Auroras case. No leads or anything. It's almost as if Steyn wiped Aurora off the face of the earth and the only information that we got is the only one that we could possibly have. It doesn't make any sense.
Why would he want to keep his daughter's case a secret? Wouldn't he want the world to know so that people can actually figure it out? Unless. He doesn't want them to for whatever reason. Maybe he prefers to keep quiet about it, act like it never happened.
"What are you doing?" I ask Azania. "Getting ready, obviously." She says. "Getting ready for what? It's six in the evening." "Indeed it is." "Why do you not want to tell me where you're going?" "Because you'll hover over me like the bee and try to sting anybody that gets close to me. And either way, you're probably going to come."
"What makes you so certain that I would want to come to this mystery place?" "Because it's Natalia time." "Natalia time?" I question her with my tone, it sounds ridiculous. "Yes, Natalia time. You'll see there's nothing as refreshing as having a party outdoors. Oh, I can just smell the gasoline."
"What are you on about?" I ask her, intrigued and smiling. she rolled her eyes I can see her through her full length mirror that she's using to put on her silver hoop earrings. "Why are you always asking me so many questions? Is this an interrogation or are we relaxing here?"
"Well, that depends on whether you answer my question on where you're going." "Is it so bad that I want it to be a surprise?" She says, turning around. I narrow my eyes a little at her outfit. I don't mind her style, she's wearing tight tiny black shorts with the silver belt and a black sports bra with a see-through mesh silver top.
I just know I'm going to have to pluck every single guys eyes out. Azania naturally draws attention to herself. It's not even her fault really, but in that outfit she'll be drawing even more attention than she usually does.
As soon as she walks into a room, she demands that you look at her without saying anything. "There's nothing wrong with that." "Then why do you look so tense, like you're preparing for battle?" I'm only a tiny bit stiff, but of course she can tell because she can see right through me despite the barriers that I put in front of me.
Likewise. "I'm just imagining how many eyes I'm going to have to pull out of their sockets as soon as you step out of the house." "You know you don't need to act like an overprotective boyfriend all the time.
Need I remind you I still haven't forgiven you for the stunt you pulled last year and I'm not planning to any time soon." It hurts that I can't tell her why I did it because I know she might understand if I do, but instead I have to make do with her hating me for the rest of the year.
"I understand that perfectly well." I say flatly. Azania frowns. "Well then, I'm glad that we're on the same page." She says with a little bite to her tone, not liking the way I spoke to her just now. I want to apologize, but she already grabbed her tiny silver bag and is on her way out.
Naturally, I follow her to wherever she's going. I'll probably always be behind her on the journey of life, no matter where we end up. As long as she's by my side or in front of me leading the way, I wouldn't mind at all.
"We finally made it." Azania says, stepping out of the car. From the looks of it, we're at an illegal street race. "Why are we here?" I asked Azania, frowning, not liking this one bit. She turns to me. "Because it's Natalia time." Is all she says before she rushes to the crowd.
The music is booming from wherever the hell the speakers are. I know that she's trying to run away from me, but this time it won't work. Last time I let her do this, she almost got assaulted by some stupid jock. That's not going to happen again.
By the time I finally found her in this crowd of bodies. She has a drink in her hand and she's talking to Sarah. I'm honestly surprised to see that Sky is with them. I never thought that this was her scene, but apparently I was wrong.
Sky doesn't exactly look comfortable here, but it seems that she's here to support her best friend. I take the cup from Azania's hand. Reluctantly she lets me. I take a sip of the drink. It seems like it's vodka with a hint of lime. There is a slice of lime on top.
I hand it back to her and look around. "I'm assuming that the other guys must be here somewhere?" I asked the girls. They all stare at me, not seeming to understand what I just said. So I say it again, louder this time so they can hear it over the music.
"They got to be around here somewhere. I'm not sure exactly where, but they are here. We lost them a little while ago." Sarah says. It seems unlike Mike to leave Sarah unattended after he found out what happened. Maybe that's what she wanted.
No matter what he wants, he'll always think of what she wants first. I walk around for a little while. I'm tall enough to see beyond the crowd. All I see are couple of heads, but it's not hard to find them. Because they're as tall as me. "Good to see you've joined us." Grayson says.
"Well, I didn't truly have a choice. If Azania was going to be here, then I would be here too." The guys don't look surprised, and they shouldn't be. After all, I do love her even if she despises me for what I've done.
After a while, a huge buzzing sound starts. I guess it indicates that the race is starting. There's a girl in between two cars, one dark red car and another one green. I know that flaming red hair anywhere. Natalia's in the red car. No wonder she hasn't made an appearance in the crowd.
The girls and the crowd go wild. I'm impressed. I didn't expect this from her, but then again, you could never truly predict what Natalia will do next.
