Chapter 22: Where?

Kagome walked down the stairs the next morning. She yawned very loudly with bags under her eyes.

"Kagome? Already awake? You didn't have to get up for another hour," her mom said.
She looked closer at her daughter,
"Oh dear! You look awful!"

Kagome twitched slightly,
"Gee thanks mom..."

Mrs. Higurashi shook her head,
"You know that's not what I meant. You should go back upstairs and try to get more sleep."

"Mom, I can't I tried that two hours ago," Kagome replied.

"Kagome, you were up three hours ago?!" her mom questioned in shock.

Kagome nodded lightly, rubbing her eyes.

Her mom walked up to her and felt her head. "You don't feel warm..."

"I just didn't sleep well is all. I'll go ahead and get ready for school while I'm up," Kagome sighed.

"Honey are you sure? You don't wanna stay home?"

"Seriously mom, I'll... I'll be okay," Kagome yawned as she leaned on the railing on the way to the bathroom.

She picked up her toothbrush and squished her minty toothpaste on the bristles.

"I don't know what it was, but I felt like I was sleeping on a huge rock," Kagome thought as she brushed her teeth back and forth.

She spat and washed out her mouth, wiping her lips lightly with a towel. Afterward she locked the door and ran the water for her bath, throwing some bath salt in it. As the water ran she rinsed her body off with cold water, then entered her filled bathtub. She sat there and soaked, while lathering her hair with shampoo and conditioner.
Kagome then went in her room and scanned through her closet, finding her clean school uniform. She laid it on the bed and slammed her body on the surface of her bed. Her freshly, clean, towel wrapped hair was silky smooth.

"Maybe if I just...close my eyes f-for awhile..." Kagome silently thought as she shut her eyes.

About an hour later, Mrs. Higurashi opened the bedroom door,
"Kagome are you almost ready?"

She saw Kagome was fast asleep and Buyo had made his way beside her sleeping too.

"Kagome?" her mother said trying to wake her up.

"The poor dear..."

Her mom threw the covers over her and kissed her forehead.

"Everyone needs a little break, I'm sure she will wake up soon," she reassured, turning off the lights and closing the door.

Kagome snoozed away with a smile, as time flew by.

Meanwhile first block was about to start and Sango was finally back at school again. She kept tapping her foot on the ground and staring at the door.

"Where is she? She never misses class," Sango thought.

She quickly took out her phone and texted her,

"Where are you? Are you sick? Did something happen? I'll take notes for you....please respond!!" Sango texted.

She was forced to put her phone away as Mr. Jinenji started class.

"This is called a animal cell. Only found in animals, and has no cell wall like the cells found in plants," he explained.

Before everyone realized it, it was time to go to second block. Sango went to her English class with Miroku. Meanwhile, Inuyasha was on his way to Mrs. Taisho's room. He entered late as usual and looked in the back of the room to be greeted by that smile of Kagome's, but she wasn't there.
