Rossweisse: Y/N!
What happened to Breaker of Kingdoms?
Y/N: If this is about the coffee machine being broken, I already told Issa not to try brewing milkshakes in it.
Rossweisse: This isn't about Coffee! It's about you! You promised to help me find someone. A worthy partner. Ringing any bells?
Y/N: Yeah, that does sound like something I'd say when I'm irritated.
Rossweisse: (glaring) You said, and I quote, "I've seen warlords with better emotional intelligence than the guys around here. I'll find you someone who doesn't make you cry in a supply closet". Remember now?
Y/N: Right. That. Yeah. Solid line. Should've written it down.
You should write a book with all of your one-liners.
Rossweisse: Well? Where is he?
Y/N: What, now? You want me to pull a boyfriend out of my tactical pouch? Sorry, all I've got in here is gun oil and madarangs.
Rossweisse: I'm serious, Y/N! I put actual hope into that promise. You were... oddly comforting that day. Even if you smelled weird.
Y/N: That's just my cologne. "Victory: by Me."
(smirks)
Damn woman started deflating. But she still looked at me expectantly. What a troublesome woman.
Y/N: Look. I didn't forget you on purpose. Things got busy. Great Red, Chaos Brigade, uniting the underworld. But, if it helps, I have been thinking about it. Kind of.
Rossweisse: You have?
Y/N: Totally. I've got a shortlist. All very emotionally available. Ish.
You're lying.
Rossweisse: Names?
Y/N: Well, there's Krieger. He's got a pulse and doesn't eat with his hands anymore. That's progress.
Isn't that the guy you chased last night?
Rossweisse: (disgusted) You're not even trying!
Y/N: You're catching on.
Rossweisse: Unbelievable! Why make that promise if you weren't going to follow through?
Y/N: Because you were crying and I didn't want to see it. And because you deserve someone better than the morons floating around Nevada.
Keep in mind you're one of those morons.
She freezes for a moment, just long enough for me to notice. Her tone softens, but her pride keeps her shoulders squared.
Rossweisse: ...Then why not be honest? Just say you couldn't find anyone.
Y/N: Because that would mean admitting that I'm surrounded by emotional toddlers. And I hate losing bets, even ones made with myself.
