Akeno's Delight

I push open the kitchen door. The hinges groan like they're dying. My feet are cold, the tile's colder, and all I've got on are black boxers and the vague hope that my ninja garb's in here somewhere.

The smell was what lead me to the kitchen. Bacon, eggs, something with butter. However, instead of Amber I see Akeno standing at the stove, humming, wearing one of my shirts like it belongs to her. My shirt's long, but not long enough to not make this uncomfortable.

Y/N: Smells good. You trying to kill me with cholesterol or kindness?

Akeno: Maybe both. You look... different this morning.

Y/N: Yeah, I left my dignity somewhere between the bedroom and the hallway. You seen a trench coat wandering around? About my height, should reek of smoke.

Akeno giggles. It's the kind that sounds like it's hiding something.

Akeno: Mmm... maybe I've seen it. But it depends. What's in it for me if I tell you?

Y/N: I'll start pretending not to notice you stole my shirt.

Akeno: Oh, this old thing? It was just lying around. You look so much better without it, though.

She glances at me over her shoulder, eyes flickering over the scars across my chest. Her smile widens.

Akeno: Those scars... they tell stories, don't they? You wear them well, Y/N.

Y/N: Yeah, they're great conversation starters.

Akeno: I like them. They suit you. Tough, mysterious... a little tragic.

Y/N: Tragic's one word for it. My past handler called it tax-deductible trauma.

I walk past her toward the counter, scanning for my ninja garb. Nothing. Not even a glove. Just toast and coffee.

Y/N: Say, aren't you supposed to be at college, Akeno? I thought you had classes today.

Akeno: I took the day off. Thought I'd visit my father later... but first, I wanted to see how you were doing.

Y/N: You're skipping school to check on me? That's either flattering or deeply concerning.

Akeno: Maybe both. Besides... you get into so much trouble when I'm not around.

Y/N: That's what makes life interesting.

Akeno turns off the stove and leans against the counter, smirking.

Akeno: So, your armor. Why the sudden interest?

Y/N: Because I'm not in the habit of catching criminals half-naked.

Akeno: I'm enjoying the view.

Y/N: Figures.

I cross my arms.

Y/N: You didn't happen to move it, did you? Big, dark, smells like blood and smoke?

Akeno: I might've... done something with it.

Y/N: That's not an answer.

Akeno: I know.

She bites her lip, clearly amused.

Y/N: You're enjoying this, aren't you?

Akeno: Immensely.

Y/N: You gonna make me guess where it is, or do I have to start interrogating you?

Akeno: You could always try asking nicely.

Y/N: Tell me where my suit is before I bite your tits off.
