Sometimes I wonder if the line between hero and killer ever really existed, or if we just made it up to feel better about the mess. Tonight felt like one of those nights. Civilians screaming for help, some moron with a god complex standing between them and survival with me stuck in the middle.
There was a kid, eyes too wide, too scared. I got him out. Got them all out. Building came down minutes later. Funny thing is, they called me a savior. Me. Harbinger of Death. If they knew just how much blood was on my hands they wouldn't be thanking me. They'd be running.
Issa: Y/N!
I was sitting alone in my room contemplating morality when my daughter alongside her king busted in here like they own the mansion.
Rias: You have to... are you okay?
Y/N: I can fight.
Issa: Yeah, but you're super pale.
That's a side of effect of gulping down literal poison.
Y/N: Pay no mind to it. You asked for help? Just so you know, I can't cure menstruation.
Rias: This is not the time for jokes! Asia has been kidnapped!
Y/N: Has she now?
You don't look worried.
Issa: You have to kick Astaroth's ass and get her back!
Y/N: Astaroth? Lucky you, just so happens there's three divisions besieging his capital as we speak.
Rias: But what if Astaroth will kill Asia before—
Y/N: Quiet. Your voice is too loud. I get the memo. Kill Astaroth, rescue Asia. That about it?
Issa: Totally! Think you can do it?
Here we go again. Another errand run.
Y/N: No promises. Take me to him first and then we'll see.
Rias: Of course! My entire peerage including me will support you.
Your armor weighs you down already. There's no need for more.
Y/N: I already have support from artillery. Don't need you slowing me down.
Rias: Don't be ridiculous! We'll fight them together!
Y/N: Seems to me you've got a bigger enemy to worry about. You go get that menstruation while I deal with Astaroth. I'm going to suit up. Prepare the teleport outside.
I left the room but I could still hear the girls talk behind my back.
Rias: I can't believe him!
Issa: Yeah, he does that sometimes...
Rias: You mean be annoying?
Issa: At least he's kind.
Rias: How can he make jokes in this situation?
Issa: He always makes jokes in stressful situations. I guess that's how he keeps his cool. Maybe.
Rias: (sigh) Should we really let him fight Astaroth alone?
Issa: I'm willing to bet my left kidney that guy is as good as dead.
