My eyes open. Footsteps.
She's already beside me,crouched on the table's edge like a shadow with a pulse. Her fingers trail along my jaw.
Wake up. Someone's coming. Someone loud. Someone who thinks she matters.
Ash: You know, brother... most people don't snap awake the instant someone enters the building.
Legend: You weren't subtle. You stomp like a damned mammoth.
Tell her she's noisy. Tell her she's unwelcome.
She's definitely noisy I'll give you that.
Ash: I was on the balcony.
Legend: And you breathed. Loudly.
Ash: Most people can't hear breathing from three rooms away.
Most people aren't mine.
Legend: I'm not 'most people.' You've complained about that often enough.
She circles the table like a shark disguising itself as a very confident woman.
Look at her. Circling you like she has a claim. Precious.
Her confidence is the reason she lost against me.
Ash: I'm starting to think you're hiding something from me, brother. Those senses are absurd. Even for you. Any chance, and this is purely scientific curiosity, you've got a few dragon genes rattling around in there?"
Legend: No.
Lie better.
I'm not lying.
Ash: You hesitated.
Legend: I didn't.
She plops herself on the corner of the table like she owns it. Technically I own it now, but details never stopped her.
My demon sits in Ash's lap without weight, staring at her with vicious affection.
I should snap her neck for flirting with you.
Easy. She barely arrived.
Ash: You're heavily mutated. It wouldn't be crazy if some of those mutations were, you know, draconic.
Legend: Nothing in me is draconic.
Ash: You sure? Because you're tall, impossible to kill, moody, have glowing eyes, a big di—
Legend: You're just describing your type.
Why are we talking about her type?
I don't mind you wrapping your arms around my neck but at least warn me.
Your type is me.
Never claimed otherwise.
Ash: Well, when your 'type' literally defeated you once, you get curious.
She smirks again, like that loss was a minor inconvenience instead of a universal-scale embarrassment.
Legend: You done diagnosing me?
Ash: Not even slightly.
Ignore her. Look at me. I love you. She doesn't.
I've got two eyes for a reason.
Legend: Look, I may have ingested some draconic mutagens a few long years past but I'm barely two percent dragon. Besides, I didn't call you here so you could harass me about my genetics.
