You know what I hate more than communists? Teamwork. It's not that I can't work with people. I've done it. Couple times. Never ends well. Teams slow you down. Make you soft. Suddenly you're thinking about someone else's survival like it's your responsibility. That's a good way to die.
Put me in a squad and now I gotta listen to Greg or Chad or whoever's screaming in my ear about tactics and formations and covering fire, like the enemy's gonna pause and let us coordinate. I don't do chains of command. I am the command.
Ash: Are you seriously writing now? I need to pee!
Go ahead. We'll watch.
Legend: Hush. They're here.
Daughter1: (purring) Well if it isn't the fearless one from Nowhere... dragging his new pet! Tell me, darling, how does it feel to be burdened by Great Red's, quite literal, weight?
Legend: Nothing like lugging around a seventy-foot dragon in mini form to keep me humble.
Ash: (whispering) Blade... I really need to pee.
Daughter2: Oh, does the big bad dragon need a diaper change? How... adorable.
Legend: Enough pleasantries. I propose an alliance, your network for my operational support. In return, you remove this chain binding Great Red to me.
Are you nuts?!
Daughter1: (smirks) Bold. You come to us with demands. You do realize you still owe us a favor for rescuing the twilight healing user?
Legend: I know. Consider that favor rolled into our new pact. One alliance, one bidding contract, no loose ends.
Alliance? With the succubi?
Daughter3: You're offering loyalty... how do we know you'll honor it once this chain is off?
I stepped forward with my fists clenched. For some reason this pose seems to be effective on women.
Legend: Because I don't break deals. You'll have my word, and my blade, to enforce it.
They'll abuse both you and your blade! Don't do it!
Daughter2: Words and blades can be broken. We need collateral.
Legend: Collateral's simple: you'll get exclusive intel on the eldritch. I get your network. That's it.
You have officially lost your mind.
Ash: (whispering) Blade... I really need to pee.
Legend: Unlock the chain.
Daughter1: You talk big. We hope you won't betray us, brute.
Legend: Keep me satisfied and I won't. Now, chain off.
The first daughter approached me and started touching the chain around my arm. From there her hand moved towards other areas of my body but I stopped her. With a small laugh she finally unbinds Ash from me as the chain glimmers and dissolves in a swirl of ember-dust. As soon as that happened Ash started running, no doubt to piss somewhere secluded.
Daughter3: We'll prepare. This alliance... could be mutually profitable.
You've just sold your soul. Are you happy with yourself?
Daughter2: Just don't fall asleep on the job, hero.
Legend: I never sleep.
