The hallways felt different this time. They looked the same from the framed pictures to my right to the windows lining my left, the curtains drawn to reveal the smoky, red sky. The dim glow of candlelight lit my path from the chandeliers above, flickering, and playing with my shadow, which danced upon the wall. I don't remember when I started walking through them, nor do I know where they might end. I don't know why I came out here on my own. Was I looking for something? It felt like I was, but I couldn't be sure of what.

The skin on the back of my neck prickled when I heard a flurry of whispers distantly behind me, causing me to whip my head around, but all was quiet again, and no one was there with me. I swallowed hard, remaining still for a few moments before subconsciously rubbing at my hand, massaging around my ring finger as if to assure myself of... Something. With furrowed brows, I start to wonder which direction I came from, but I don't think I've ever been in this part of the castle before. Why would I go this far alone? What part of me thought this was a good idea? I should have waited for Ramsey to escort me. A distant hum of strings sounded ahead of me, low and eerie-like. The better part of me knew not to follow it, but a pull on my chest led me towards the noise, moving my legs, which I held no control over anymore. Why did this sensation feel faintly familiar, like puppet strings guiding a marionette across a tiny, wooden stage?

The halls seemed to narrow, the ceiling growing taller gradually with each step until I made it to the door where the music was coming from. The pull guided my hand to the door handle, but didn't make me turn it. My heart pounded anxiously beneath my ribs, providing a beat to accompany the discomforting song as I opened the door wide enough to peer through a crack into a dark room lit only by a red moon. I could see the back of a tall man sitting on a chair. In his hands was a long bow and oddly shaped instrument akin to a cello. He dragged it along the strings quickly and with precision, performing a vigorous melody that took his entire focus, occasionally plucking to create a collection of sharp notes within the flow of the song. Squinting my eyes, I recognized that head of dark curls and the sharp spikes that protruded from the shell on their back.

"Phil?" There was a squeal of notes, descending in depth as the music came to an abrupt end, filling the room with uneasy silence that deafened my ears to everything but my pulse. He sat up straighter as I opened the door more, rising slowly. I stumbled back with a hand over my mouth when I saw the clutter scattered over the floor. It wasn't clutter at all, it was parts. Parts of fingers, parts of legs, parts of intestines and twisted, mangled torsos, heads that were all too recognizable, both human and demon alike. Amongst them were my friends: Marquas, Eric, Nick, Koda, Luther, and Barbra. Even Clyde and Rachel were sprawled over each other, mutilated and butchered with a shining, red axe lodged into their bodies.
