Pairing: Dust/Murder Sans x Reader
Prompt: After a solo mission leaves you battered and limping, Nightmare sends Dust to your room to give you medical attention fully aware you're not going to accept it.
Type: banter, jokes, tension, patch-up after a mission while he secretly worries about you
Length: 3.4k words
Background: I don't delve into y'alls history too much but you're best friends with Dust, even if you don't act like it outwardly - it is Nightmare's castle after all, and soft, heartfelt, emotional moments are for wusses like the Stars. You show you care in other, more aggressive ways 🤭
Notes: Requested by a lovely reader who just wanted some good banter-y fun with Dust. I don't give him much in my other works, honestly, and that's a crime so I'm here to amend that. I love my 1-on-1 character interactions, it makes for the best dialogue to bounce off of each other - tho of course having all the Bad Sanses in one room is also a good time, just a different flavor ☕

Footsteps echoed off the walls of the castle halls, signaling his arrival before he stopped in front of your bedroom door. The doorknob shook violently as he tried it, but upon realizing it was locked, 3 swift knocks cracked against the wood. You got to your feet, sucking in a sharp breath as your hand reflexively darted to the stitch in your side, and limped towards the door while clearing your throat.

"Who is it?" Silence was your reply followed by 3 more knocks, and you unlocked the door to prop it open a crack, forcing a smile for the silent skeleton on the other side. "That's the part where you're supposed to answer with your name, Dust." He pushed the door open with his foot, forcing you back as you took in another sharp breath. Your hand fell to your pants pocket but not fast enough, as Dust's eyelights flickered between your side and the blood staining your wrist.

"Boss sent me to fix you up." There was no question in his voice - he was sent here with a job and he intended to do it - but you rolled your eyes and hobbled back to your bed.

"I'm fine."

"'Fine'?" he echoed in a scoff, summoning a bone in front of your foot to trip you face-first onto your bed. Your yelp was cut off by the sheets, and you pushed yourself off the mattress to glare back at him as he used the bone to hold your ankle up in the air. You managed to roll onto your back and pull your foot away from his piercing gaze, but not after he spotted the swelling in your ankle and his glare leveled on you.

"Yes, fine. It's just some minor swelling - I got tripped up on my solo mission but I can still walk, can't I?"

"Barely," he grumbled, tossing the bone at you so it boinked off your forehead. You snatched it up and threw it back at him, but he caught it with magic and turned it in the air to see your blood coating the part your hand touched. He rose a singular, unimpressed browbone at you and you huffed, wiping your hand on your pants.

"That's not mine." He released a sigh that sounded more like a growl, making the bone disappear and instead opening the first-aid kit in his other hand to pull out some bandages. "If you wanted to see me, you didn't need to wait until the Boss told you to visit." Your smile was ignored in favor of lifting your shirt, and you quickly shoved it back down with a gasp. "Whoa, Dust! I just got back, maybe set the mood before you-" He smacked your hands away with a knowing glare, ripping your shirt up so he could see the blood coating your side. You grimaced, the cold air nipping at your exposed innards making you feel sick, but you hid it behind a playful laugh. "Ah, I was wondering why I felt so cold."

"Lay back." Dust didn't wait for you to comply, shoving you back so your head rested on your pillow and he could work your shirt up to the bottom of your chest, letting him see the bruised ribs you were dutifully ignoring and the blood leaking from the hole in your side.
