Este's a friend of mine
We meet up every Tuesday night for dinner and a glass of wine
Este's been losing sleep
Her husband's acting different and it smells like infidelity
She says, "That ain't my merlot on his mouth"
"That ain't my jewelry on our joint account"
No, there ain't no doubtI think I'm gonna call him out
You finish getting dressed and stare at yourself in the mirror. Every week, you and your best friend get together for dinner, where you catch up on your lives and make plans to hang out. Every week, you always dress casually, and every week, she dresses like she's going to a gala instead of a chain restaurant.
She always dresses her best, and it's good for you to follow in her steps.
It's why you're silently judging your dress. It's definitely not casual, but it's more than what you'd wear.
The bedroom door opens, and the love of your life walks in.
"Aren't you just going to dinner?" Dean asks.
"Yes, but we ladies need to look our best." You turn to him. "Do I look okay?"
Dean grabs your waist and pulls you in. "You look good enough to eat."
"Play your cards right, and you might just get to," you smirk. You eye the clock behind him. "I gotta go. I'll be back later."
You kiss Dean goodbye and grab your purse. You take one of the cars inside the Bunker's garage and head off to Bourbon and Bones Steakhouse. That's Este's choice this week. Every other week, she chooses the place she wants to go to, and you choose the other weeks.
Este is already there when you arrive. Her car is a sleek black Aston Martin. Her husband paid for it just like he pays for everything else. Este is sitting by the window, looking at the traffic that passes by. She doesn't even notice you, not even when you sit across from her.
She looks... troubled.
She looks like she has a dark cloud over her head where her personal rainstorm is pouring down on her.
She doesn't look happy.
"Este?" You reach out and touch her arm. "Este?"
"Oh." She snaps out of her trance. "Sorry. I didn't see you there."
"Are you okay?"
"No," she whispers. "No, I'm not."
The waitress comes, and you put in an order for two drinks and an appetizer to get the night started. When she comes back with the food, you push it toward Este.
