-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A tall man with long brown hair walks through a concrete hallway. Red emergency lights blink slowly, signaling that something is very wrong. The man holds a flashlight steady in his hands, but the light doesn't do much against the vast darkness. He walks through the hallways, clearly looking for something. Someone?

Where is he going? Who is he meeting with? What does he plan on doing?

The man steps into what looks like a library. A dozen shelves sit on either side of the room, and three long tables take up the middle of the room. The maps on the tables are on, but the light is too dim to give the man any kind of relief.

The man steps carefully, as if he doesn't want the ground to creak under his weight. The wood looks newly furnished, but the man doesn't want to take the chance.

He wants to stay silent. He wants to keep his presence hidden from nearby predators.

The man walks into the next room through an archway. In front of him are metal stairs leading to a door above him. On the left and right of him are control panels that look like they're offline. In the middle of the room is a large table with a map of the world on it.

The entire place is silent. It should unnerve the man, but it doesn't. He continues walking into the room.

Suddenly, someone grabs the man from behind and throws him across the room with more strength than a normal human should have. The large man is tall and big, so whoever threw him must be extremely strong.

The long-haired man stands and runs at the newcomer, slamming his large body into him to throw him off. Both men struggle together, trying to gain the upper hand. Long Hair reaches into his pocket and produces a shiny and jagged knife with symbols etched onto the side.

Long Hair fights with the other man, trying to stab him with the knife. The stranger grabs Long Hair's throat and squeezes as tightly as he can. Long Hair thrashes under his body, but he doesn't give up. No, he fights as hard as he can.

He swings his fist into the stranger's head, and the stranger goes down easily. In the process, the knife is knocked out of Long Hair's hand. Long Hair stands and searches for the knife, but it's nowhere to be found.

That is, until the stranger stands with the knife in his hands. Eyes are as black as the night. Long Hair luncges at the man, not realizing what the stranger is going to do to him.

The stranger stabs the knife in Long Hair's neck, slicing through not only his carotid artery, but the muscle and ligaments, too. Long Hair gurgles on his blood before falling to the ground—his lifeless eyes staring out into the distance.

You shoot awake from the vivid nightmare with a loud gasp. The air conditioning is on full blast, and your ceiling fan is spinning at high speed, but it's not enough to cool your slick skin. Sweat covers you from head to toe, and your heart races a million miles a second.
