Warnings: loss of a friend angst, fearing for your life
Summary: Your best friend has disappeared, and you're on the hunt to find out what happened to her. You come across a very old house, and rumors tell you to stay away. While there, you come across several disturbing things.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old Creek Town. The place is creepier than the pictures you found online. You've never been here, and for good reason. The town is in shambles. The residents who live here are shackled to their homes. The grocery store is rundown and has graffiti on nearly all sides. The old church has paint peeling from the outside. The people who are out and about walk in pairs. Not one person is out here alone.
Except for you.
Candace, your best friend, is missing. You haven't heard from her in weeks, and instead of waiting for the police to do anything, you're taking matters into your hands. The last you heard from her, she was going on a date in the town where her date lived.
She was so excited for this date. It was her first one after her divorce, and she was finally ready to put herself out there. She said she'd call you the next day to tell you all about it, but she never did.
So far, no one knows her or what happened to her.
You're not giving up until you find out what happened to her.
Pete's Bar is one of the only things open this late at night, so you walk over to it. The place is decently packed for a small town. Some patrons look your way, but none of them are interested in you. That's weird. Usually, people welcome outsiders since they have such a small town, but you dismiss it. You're not here for pleasantries.
"What can I get you?" the bartender asks.
"Nothing. I'm not staying. I'm hoping you can help me with something." You take out a picture of Candace and show him. "Have you seen her?"
The bartender barely looks at the photo. "No. I'm sorry."
"You didn't even look." He still doesn't. "Please? She's my best friend, and she went on a date with this guy. She said she'd call me tomorrow and tell me all about it. That was weeks ago, and I haven't heard from her since. I just want to find her."
The bartender hears the desperation in your voice and relents. He takes the photo and looks at it. "Yeah, I saw her that night. It was hard to miss her. We don't get many newcomers."
"Do you remember who she was with?"
"Yeah. I don't know his name, though."
"What did he look like?"
"Dark hair. Beard. Dark eyes. I wasn't really paying attention. However, I did overhear their conversation. He asked her if she'd like to go on a drive, and she didn't look too thrilled with the idea of leaving town. He was a charming motherfucker, though."
"Why call him that?" you ask.
"When she wasn't looking, he was making heart eyes at other women."
You're angry for her, but dread fills your body at the thought of what happened to her. You have a bad feeling that something bad happened to her.
"Do you know where they were going?"
"Not exactly, but they headed out toward the manor."
"The manor? What manor?"
