"Pietro! We need more hot sauce." Clint called from the kitchen, and both Bucky and Pietro ran there.

(Y/n) was staring at the ceiling, concentrating on the sweat on her eyelashes. She turned her head to the left, came nose-to-nose with Tony, and she let out a screech.

"Oh my gosh! Tony!"

"Go to him, (Y/n)." The billionaire urged, a simple, faux smile on his face. "He'll obviously tell if you find out what's wrong."

"Why me?"

He shared a look with Steve, who was shielding his smile with his hand. Tony was smug.
"You know damn well why, honey."

Her cheeks grew warm. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Wanda let out a laugh. "(Y/n), your thoughts are very loud. I had no idea!"

"I don't even want to know," Natasha sang.

Tony just nudged (Y/n). She let out a sigh, pushing herself up and walking out.
She reached Loki's room, and knocked tentatively at the door.

The pacing and mumbling from inside stopped. The door was opened just a crack, and Loki peeked through.

"Yes?"

(Y/n) smiled. "Can I come in?"

Loki just grunted and opened the door wider. (Y/n) took note of his clean bedroom, gesturing to sit at a chair against the desk.
He nodded, and the woman sat down.

Loki's arm's were behind his back. He smiled tightly. "What do you need?"

(Y/n) let out a small chuckle. "It's been nearly a year since we got to know each other, and I just realized I've never been in your room."

Loki shrugged. "I don't like people disturbing me."

"We also never talked about your adoption that much."

Loki burst into a short laugh. "How subtle of you. I kept it quiet for a reason."

His voice was as clear as a beautiful sunny day. The only thing that tipped (Y/n) off was the fact that his back was still turned to her.

(Y/n) said softly. "Loki, look at me."

He did so after a pause. His lips were twitching into a frown.

"What's the matter? You know that you can tell me anything, right?" She said, and stood up.

He sighed and shook his head. "It wouldn't matter anyway."

She walked closer to him, lifting his head up by the chin. He was surprised at the act. His eyes met hers across the battlefield of his emotions. "It matters to me," she whispered.

"Loki, what's wrong?"

His voice shook. "I'm a monster. And there's nothing I can do about it."

(Y/n) stared. And then she let out an ugly snort.
"Are you kidding me?"

Loki frowned. "This wasn't what I had expected."

She looked back at him, still laughing. "You expected pity? Guess what, Frosty? That's not going to happen."

"I'm not Asgardian. I found out that I was of Jötun heritage. Frost Giants, the most monstrous and evil of the nine realms. I'm one of them, a monster! And you just laugh at me?"

(Y/n) shook her head. A smile was still on her face.  "Unbelievable. I'm not laughing at you! I'm laughing at the fact that you don't know the definition of a monster."
