Today was the day. Or today was supposed to be the day that they carried out their plan. But there was a change in plan, for the better. Abe was out and chained Mitch to the loose piece of the bed frame. Mitch managed to twist the bar out and release himself. He knew then, that he was not going to be left behind. There was no way.
He raced to Scott and managed to undo his bond while still being chained together, but then, there was a problem. The front door had a coded lock, something Mitch wasn't aware of. Scott sagged onto Mitch's shoulder, his breathing growing ragged.
"Hold in there Scott," Mitch whispered and lead him to a chair. He picked up the one neck to him and threw it as hard as he could against the window. The window cracked, but didn't break. Mitch tried again and this time the window shattered, showering bits of glass all over Mitch. He ignored it however, and draped Scott's arms over his shoulder and stepped through the glass. He winced as the glass dug into his bare feet, but he was sure Scott felt worse.
"Help!" Mitch screamed with all his might once they got outside. "Somebody please, help us!"
A woman jogging stopped and took out her phone. She called the police and helped them to a neighbor's house.
The police swarmed the house and this time, Mitch didn't care if Abe got caught. He spilled everything to the police. Scott had been rushed to the hospital, and Mitch couldn't stop talking as he spilled nearly every detail.
"You're safe now," One said. But Mitch didn't believe it.
He was never going to be safe. Unless Abe was caught.
