Nicole walked in and turned on all the lights. She went to the back room and got her black waist apron on, straightened up behind the bar, turned on the grill and deep fryers. She then began cleaning off the bar and the tables, getting ready to open up the Grill when the same devilishly handsome man in a suit that was with Elena walked in. He went in to get directions to Mayor Lockwood's new office and was told by Elena Gilbert her daughter works at the Grill. He figured he'd go there and ask her for directions; but when he saw her he lost all train of thought and just stared at her like he had seen a ghost.
"Ivy?" He asked his mouth agape. Nicole whipped her head up at the stranger "Sorry sir, we're not open yet." He just stood there staring at her. "Sir, are you okay?" Nicole asked straightening up. She uncomfortable under his gaze. She didn't know what to do. This was the guy who was with Elena earlier and now he's in front of her calling her 'Ivy'. He finally snapped out of it. "I'm so sorry, you look so much like an old friend of mine. It's actually quite eerie how much you resemble her..." He said stunned. Nicole looked at him with furrowed brow not knowing whether to be scared or intrigued by whom he meant. "So sorry, I can see I'm frightening you. Do you know where I can find Mayor Lockwood's daughter? I was told she'd be here." He stated looking around. Nicole nodded. "Let me guess; Elena told you she'd be here?" The stranger looked back at Nicole puzzled. "Are you Nicole?" Nicole bowed as an introduction. "In the flesh. What can I do for you...?" She asked with a smile. "Oh how rude of me, I'm Elijah Mikaelson. pleasure to meet you Nicole." He walked closer to her and held out his hand for her. She put her hand in his and he pulled it to his lips and pecked it gently. Nicole was a little taken back but also flattered at his manners. "Likewise Elijah. So what brings you to Mystic Falls?" Nicole asks and continues cleaning the tables. "Just visiting. Elena and the Salvatore's are friends of mine and my family." Nicole nodded. "So a family vacation?" Elijah laughed. "In a manner yes. Klaus, Rebekah and myself are visiting from New Orleans." Nicole nodded. "Very cool. So Rebekah is your... wife?" Nicole asked with a raised eyebrow. Elijah laughed again. "No! She's my younger sister and Klaus is my brother." Nicole was embarrassed. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed. Oh if you know the Salvatore's then you must know my brother; well adopted brother. His names Tyler."
Elijah tilted his head when she said 'adopted'. He knew he had met her before. This woman that stood before him was so familiar to him yet he couldn't understand why. "Adopted? You're not Carol's daughter?" He asked with a confused expression. Nicole got upset at that statement. People just assume because she's adopted she's not "actually" a Lockwood. No one really understands that bond between a child and their adoptive parents. "Not biologically no but she is the only real mother I have. Mine left me when I was three. She wanted adventure or some crap like that." Nicole said rolling her eyes. It didn't bother her as much anymore. Elijah felt sorry for her. How could a mother just up and abandon her child to a family of strangers to pursue their own selfish ambition? He couldn't understand it. "I'm sorry to pry but do you remember your Mother's name?" He asked. Nicole stopped cleaning and looked at him. "Actually you said it before. Her name was Ivy." Elijah's mouth fell open. He was trying to do the math and the probability of her being Klaus' ex girlfriend Ivy's child. "Honestly, that's actually why you were creeping me out. I couldn't imagine why you called me that." Then it hit her. She looked up at him and stood up straight. "Elijah..." She took a step toward him. "Do you know my mother?" Elijah honestly wasn't sure.
