Later, Elijah is on a busier street talking to Nicole. "Is he always like this?" Elijah tilted his head. "Well, he's doing what he does; given a chance at happiness, Klaus runs in the opposite direction." Nicole shook her head "Then let him run. That child, if it's even his, is better off without him. I wonder if I would've been." Elijah stops her by standing in front of her. "He's not better off without that child, Nicole, and neither are we." Nicole rolls her eyes and laughs. "Kind, Uncle Elijah. Your brother rarely brings you and Aunt Rebekah anything but pain. At what point in your immortal life will you stop searching for his redemption?" Elijah puts his arm around her shoulder and continues walking. "I'll stop searching for his redemption when I believe there is none left to be found." Nicole couldn't understand her uncles unconditional love for her father. She did love her father; but right now she feels like she has no idea who he is.

Klaus walks down a deserted street and sits down on a bench. Nicole and Elijah spot him. After a minute, Elijah arrives and sits beside him and Nicole on his other side. "Are you here to give me another pep talk on the joys of fatherhood?" Nicole rolled her eyes. "I've said all I needed to say." Elijah said. "As have I." Nicole put her head on her father's shoulder; exhausted from today's events. She stays quiet; pretending to sleep and listens to the brothers talk. "I forgot how much I liked this town." Niklaus looked around him. "I didn't forget. All the centuries we've spent together, and yet I can count on one hand the number of times that our family has been truly happy. I hated leaving here." Elijah said as he admired the settings around him. "As did I."Klaus smiled at his brother. "What is on your mind, brother?" Elijah asked.

Klaus sighed. "For a thousand years, I lived in fear. Any time I settled anywhere, our father would hunt me down and...chase me off. He made me feel powerless, and I hated it. This town was my home once, and in my absence, Marcel has gotten everything that I ever wanted. Power, loyalty, family. I made him in my image and he has bettered me. I want what he has. I want to be king." Elijah nodded. "And what of Nicole, Hayley and the baby?" Klaus smirked. "Every king needs an heir. Luckily I'll have two." Nicole's eyes shot open hearing her father say that. She now feared for not only her baby siblings life but for her own. "So is that all this child means to you? A grab for power?" Elijah asked. "What does it mean to you?" Klaus looked at his brother. "I think this child could offer you the one thing that you've never believed you had." Elijah looked at Klaus. "And what's that?" Elijah put his hand on Klaus' shoulder. "The unconditional love of family." They are looking at each other. "Tell Sophie Deveraux we have a deal."

The next day Elijah left the hotel alone before nicole woke up to meet Sophie. Nicole saw him leave and followed him. Elijah arrives at the cemetery with Sophie. "So, how do you propose this will work?" Elijah asks. Nicole is eavesdropping from a grave two rows down. "Your brother needs to cement his place in Marcel's world. His inner circle, the daywalkers-- that's where we begin. They're his friends, his family. We'll be hitting him where it hurts." Nicole needed to come up with her own plan to help. She needed to get to Marcel.
