THE ABATTOIR / NEWLY-RETURNED MIKAELSON COMPOUND

Klaus has set up a dinner table is set up in the courtyard to celebrate his return to leadership over New Orleans and his repossession of the Abattoir compound from Marcel. The vampire army, including Marcel and his closest friends, are seated around the table, and Klaus and Hayley are seated at each end with Nicole next to Klaus. Klaus calls for everyone's attention to give a speech by tapping his glass with his fork. "Let us begin with a toast to our shared gift: immortality. After a thousand years, one might expect life to be less keenly felt, for its beauties and its sorrows do diminish with time. But, as vampires, we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine." Klaus gestures toward a group of waiters and waitresses to have them join them at the table, one for each guest except Nicole and Hayley. "Insatiable need, exquisite pain..." The servants slit their wrists with knives, filling the cups with blood for the vampires. "Our victories, and our defeats." He looks at Marcel, who flashes back to a memory from earlier.

FLASHBACK-- THE GARDEN

Some time before the dinner, Rebekah and Marcel have met in the Garden to discuss Klaus' recent return to power. "You can't afford your wounded pride. With Klaus in control of your empire, you need to give him what he craves most: loyalty. Or, at least, the illusion of it." Marcel shakes his head. "I ambushed him, tried to bury him alive. He's not gonna trust me." Rebekah put a hand on his shoulder. "He will, because he wants your allegiance. Speaking from my experience, I know that if you play the part, all is forgiven. But, if you give him any reason to doubt you, he will strike back." Rebekah takes Marcel's hand in her own. "Make me a promise, Marcel. You will do whatever it takes to stay alive."

PRESENT DAY-- MIKAELSON COMPOUND

Klaus raises his glass in a toast to the others. "...To my city, my home again. May the blood never cease to flow..." Marcel lifts his glass. "...and the party never end!" Nicole saw Marcel how much emotional pain Marcel was in over her father taking over. It hurt her; but Klaus was her father. She couldn't abandon him like his siblings have done. Marcel looks over at Diego, who has his own flashback.

FLASHBACK-- THE PIT

Diego and Marcel are discussing their new arrangement. "I just don't get it, man. We would've stayed with you to the end." Marcel puts a hand on Diego's shoulder. "Letting you do that would have been letting you die, and you're still my people. Now, just follow my lead. Trust me, it ain't over yet."

PRESENT DAY-- MIKAELSON COMPOUND

Diego raises his glass. "To New Orleans." Nicole repeats. "To New Orleans!" Everyone joins in. "New Orleans." Everyone at the table drinks. "I understand that some of you may have questions regarding the recent change in leadership, and I invited you here tonight to assure you that you are not defeated. No, my intentions moving forward are to celebrate what we have. What Marcel, in fact, took and built for this true community of vampires." Diego looks at Hayley and Nicole. "What about them?" He points to Hayley & Nicole at the far end of the table. The wolves." Nicole and Hayley exchange hard glances then look to Klaus. Nicole saw Hayley's hand start to shake so she pulled her hand into hers. "Stay calm. He's not gonna let anything happen to us." Nicole whispered to her. Hayley nodded in understanding. Klaus walked to Diego. "Had you'd let me finish, Diego, you would know that there is, of course, one further matter I would like to address."

He walks over to the other end of the table where Hayley & Nicole sit. He stands between the girls. "As many of you know, Nicole is my daughter and the girl is carrying my child. Consequently, I trust you will all pay them the appropriate respect. However, I understand that some of you are concerned by this vicious rumor that I intend to use the blood of our child to create hybrids. I assure you I do not." Nicole let out a sigh of relief. Hayley smirks sarcastically. "Father of the year." Nicole gave her a glare. She never had a real father and since she came into Klaus' life he had been nothing but wonderful to her. To her he was the father of the year. Hayley looked at Nicole and saw how hurt she was. Hayley mouthed "sorry" to Nicole. Klaus mildly frustrated. "It appears I will have to earn your trust. Very well. We'll eliminate the root of your anxiety. You see, how I can I sire any hybrids if there are no more werewolves alive in the Bayou to turn?" Hayley is horrified. "What? Klaus, no!" Nicole stood up. "Dad, you can't do that!" He pushed Nicole back into her chair. Nicole was shocked at the way he treated her in front of everyone. "So... eat, drink, and be merry. And, tomorrow, I suggest you have yourselves a little wolf hunt. Go ahead, have fun. Kill them all!" Nicole and Hayley exchanged panicked glances.

MIKAELSON MANSION

A blue truck is parked outside the plantation house. Movers are packing up what appears to be a big painting into the truck. Rebekah yells at the worker. "Absolutely not! I paid for that!" Elijah scoffs. "Please. You never paid for anything in your life." Rebekah offended. "I hardly see how that's relevant. Nik's just punishing us." Elijah frowned. "Well, we've hurt him. Deeply, it would appear." Rebekah crossed her arms. "We believed the worst about him, the one time in a million when the worst wasn't actually the truth." Elijah starts to walk away. "Where do you think you're going?" Rebekah asks. "To make sure Nicole and Hayley don't suffer for our mistakes. Niklaus is feeling vindictive. We cannot trust that they are safe." Elijah leaves the house, leaving Rebekah alone.
