Klaus apologized for his behavior toward his daughter and left. Nicole went back inside and locked the door. "Hey you okay?" Nicole jumped at the sound of Stefan's voice. She had completely forgotten he was over. "Jeez, you scared me!" He chuckled. "Yeah I'm okay." She smiled at him and they walked back into the den. "My dad and I had a fight earlier. Apparently he doesn't like loose ends." She said with a shrug. Stefan was looking at her with a huge smile. "Why are you smiling at me like that? It's creepy." They both chuckled. "You called him Dad. That's the first time you said it." Stefan said with a smile. He was right. She had been calling him Klaus since they met. "Huh. I did, didn't I?" She asked. Stefan nodded. "Well I guess I'll have to start calling him Dad sooner or later." Stefan smiled. "Oh what did you wanna talk about?" Stefan asked with a quizzical brow. Nicole was so distracted by her father's tantrum that she forgot why she invited Stefan over. "Right, okay. Um..." She was nervous. "I wanted to talk to you about the other day. We said it was a 'coffee date' and you paid for the check so I'm just trying to understand whether it was a 'date' or just a casual friends getting coffee day." Nicole said with a small smile.
Just as Stefan was about to answer her another knock came from the front door. "You've got to be kidding me! Hold that thought." Nicole huffed and ran to the door. As she was about to yell at her father; there stood Elijah. "Evening Nicole." Nicole sighed in relief. "Oh Uncle Elijah, I thought you were Klaus again. What's up?" Elijah could smell Stefan's scent and looked inside to see if he was around. "Forgive my intrusion. I knew your father was coming to see you and he was angry. I wanted to make sure you were alright." He said smiling. Nicole smiled "Thank you for checking up on me but I'm fine." Nicole said. Elijah turned to leave. "Uncle Elijah?" He stopped and looked at her. "I know it's late but could I possibly come stay with you guys tonight? Carols visiting colleges with Tyler all weekend and..." Elijah cut her off. "Nicole, of course you can. That is your home. Always and forever." Elijah said with sincerity. Nicole stepped forward and hugged the wonderful man that she had the privilege to call Uncle.
She'd never felt so loved by anyone before she met Elijah. He knew how important family was and he loved having her join his. She was what was going to mend his brother and keep the family at peace. Elijah kissed her forehead. "Now, finish what you were doing, get your things and come home." Nicole nodded. He looked inside the house. "Good night Stefan!" Nicole's eyes widened at her uncle. Stefan stepped out of the den. "Night Elijah." Elijah winked at his niece and left. Nicole blushed as she shut the door. She was embarrassed but in a good way. "Well this has been an interesting evening." Nicole said full of sarcasm. Stefan laughed at Nicole's sarcasm. "I'm gonna get going, but we'll hang out tomorrow?" Stefan asked hopeful. Nicole looked disappointed but just nodded and went to get his coat. She took it off the stair banister and handed it to him with a slight smile. "Oh and to answer your question: It was definitely a date." Stefan kissed her cheek and left.
