Nicole called Bonnie to help teach her some spells from Esther's grimmore before her trip to New Orleans tomorrow. Bonnie came right after she called and they practiced for the rest of the day and all night. It was 7am, Bonnie was exhausted but thoroughly impressed by how fast Nicole caught on and how powerful she was. Nicole thanked Bonnie for all her help and got ready for their flight. Elijah & Nicole boarded a 4pm flight that would land at 7pm. Hoping they weren't too late. Elijah is surprised that the city still feels like home to him despite the century he's been away. Curious as to why Klaus would return to the one place he swore he would never set foot again he and Nicole are determined to find him. "So why are really here?" Elijah grabbed his luggage and Nicole grabbed hers. "Evidently there are witches conspiring against him. So, knowing Niklaus, this was a mission to silence and slaughter." Nicole had no idea what damage her father was truly capable of. She was going to find out. "So what do we do?" Nicole followed her Uncle through the airport. "Well, the French Quarter witches are not a lot to be trifled with." Nicole was scared for her father. "You don't suppose they've found a way to kill him once and for all, do you?" "Hopefully not but now we must find out who's making a move against him." Nicole grabbed Elijah's arm. "Then what?" "And then I'll either stop them...or I'll help them, depending on my mood." Nicole just shook her head and followed her uncle.

They dropped their luggage off at the hotel and started walking the streets to find Klaus or the witch plotting against him; Jane Anne Deveraux. They spot a long curly haired tourist guide. "Welcome to New Orleans, and the crown jewel of the Crescent city, the French Quarter. Jazz and jambalaya, romance, poetry, not to mention the things that go bump in the night. Monsters that feed off human blood, vengeful spirits of the dead, and my personal favorite, the witches. Here we have the voodoo shop, Jardin Gris. Go on, browse for a hex." Nicole was truly intrigued by the way this woman talked of New Orleans. "Are you going to continue following me, Elijah, or do you and your girl wanna talk?" Nicole blushed when this woman thought she was Elijah's girlfriend. Elijah however was in shock at how this woman knew him. "You know who I am?" She smiled. "Original vampire, always wears a suit." Elijah blushes and Nicole smiles. "You and your family are famous amongst the witches, especially with your... brother back in town." Elijah stepped toward her. "Well, Niklaus is here because he learned that a witch was conspiring against him. Someone by the name of Jane-Anne Deveraux." The woman's face fell into sadness. "Well, if he's looking for Jane Anne, he's a little late." Elijah and Nicole looked at each other; brows furrowed. "Are you telling me she's dead?" She nodded. "Come on, her sister Sophie's gonna want to talk to you."

On A quiet street in the French Quarter there is a crowd of witches. They stand, kneel and crouch sadly around the body of their fallen friend, Jane-Anne. The body lies on the ground, obviously dead, with blood on its neck. There are some flowers and candles around the corpse. Sophie Deveraux sits near her sister, weeping silently. All of the witches look depressed. Elijah, Nicole and Sabine, the witch tour guide, appear. Elijah is truly shocked. They stop a few hundred meters away from the mourning witches. Nicole is in shock at what she is seeing. She kneels and starts praying for Jane Anne. "That's Jane-Anne? Killed in public for anyone to find..." Elijah looks around to see any tourists. "Only people that come around here are the witches. Now her sister has come to take her body. Her spirit can't rest until it's been properly interred in the cemetery." Nicole stood next to Elijah and held his hand. "Please tell me that my brother had nothing to do with this." Elijah prayed. Nicole was also hoping her father didn't kill this woman. "No. Jane Anne died because she got caught doing magic." Nicole sighed in relief but then had to ask. "What do you mean she got caught doing magic?" Elijah turned to his niece knowing she came to help her father by using magic. A loud whistle is heard. Nicole jumped in surprise.

"You wanna know who killed Jane-Anne? You're about to get your first glimpse of Marcel in action." Elijah looked at Nicole. "The vampire Marcel?" Sabine nods. "Things have changed since your family left town. Marcel has changed." Vampires approach the witches. "I'm asking you, stay hidden. If Marcel finds out that a witch lured the Originals and another witch back into town, my people will be slaughtered." Sabine eyed Nicole when she said 'another witch'. Elijah picked Nicole up and vamp speeds to a spot on a balcony, so they are hidden in the shadows. They watch from afar. "Well, well, well, what have we here? I gotta tell you Soph, this street corner is not proving the luckiest spot for your family tonight. Not half an hour ago, we had to teach your sister a little lesson." The girl who is supposedly her sister is kneeling next to Jane Anne's body. "We're putting her to rest Marcel. Leave us alone." Marcel gets in her face. "I never said you could move the body. Matter of fact, I left her here for a reason: send a message." Nicole is disgusted by Marcel. "If anybody is thinking of joining some kind of rebellion, my rules state that witches can't practice magic in the Quarter and yet a little birdy informed me that Jane Anne was cooking up something magically delicious." Nicole and Elijah exchange glances. "Oh, yeah. While I have you, quick Q&A. My old friend – the hybrid, Klaus – he just happened to show up out of the blue asking for, of all people, Jane Anne. Any idea why?" Nicole started pulling Elijah's coat as a sign to go and follow Marcel. Elijah put a finger to his lips then pointed back to the scene at hand. "I don't know. Witches don't get involved in vampire business." Nicole smirked at the girls snarky comment. "Hmm. That would be pretty stupid, that's for sure. Tell you what, go back to the restaurant, cook up some of that famous gumbo, and keep those tourists happy." Marcel turned to the vampires. "Take the body!" Nicole's face turned to horror as she watched the sister cry and plead for them to leave her alone. "What? No! Stop! Stop! Marcel!"He turned back to her "I'm gonna hold on to your sister's body in case maybe you remember why Klaus is here." The girl started crying. "Marcel please. Her body won't be at peace." Marcel smirked "Not my problem." Nicole couldn't believe how heartless and cruel Marcel was. Marcel and the rest of the vampires walk away with Jane-Anne's body. Elijah and Nicole are still standing on the balcony, watching them. "We have to do something Uncle Elijah." Elijah just nodded.

Elijah and Nicole are walking around looking for Jane Anne's sister Sophie. "So basically, after all these years, Marcel; my father's ward; is alive and is running the French Quarter?" Elijah nodded. "Apparently. My brother seems to have wandered into a war zone. And we still haven't been able to find him. Marcel, who Klaus sired and brought up beneath his own wing, now rules a menagerie of savage vampires running wild, killing in public for any human to come upon. Witches are held in subjugation. I doubt Niklaus had any idea what he was walking into." Nicole is still trying to absorb what she just witnessed and now is trying to swallow the giant vampire issue that just got thrown at her. "So what do we do? I can't use magic. I'm useless." Elijah turned to her. "You are not useless. I believe Niklaus is in trouble, so what ever is going on between Marcel and the witches, it's dire enough that they'd risk bringing an Original back to town. The witches have lured him here, I'd like to know why." Nicole nodded trying to remain calm.

Elijah was listening intently when he stopped short. he grabbed Nicole and told her to stay put. She looked down an alley to see two vampires and a young woman by candles. She overheard the girls name was Sophie. She watched the scene. Sophie turns back to the second man. The first man begins to attack her from behind, but suddenly disappears. Sophie and the second man look up, then turn at the sound of something falling to the ground - a heart oozing blood. The second man looks angry but doesn't have time to do anything about it before their attacker has thrown him up against the brick building, where he is held by a long stake protruding from his chest. Elijah straightens his coat. "Nicole!" Nicole runs to her Uncle in shock of what she just saw him do to protect Sophie. "I'm Elijah. You heard of me?" The girl was in shock and was frightened. "Yes." Elijah took a step toward the girl "So, why don't you tell me what business your family has with my brother?" Nicole narrowed her eyes at Sophie.
