Family is Power

  Shortly thereafter, Niklaus is walking down a deserted but well-lit street when Elijah and Nicole catch up with him. Elijah sits next to him as Nicole sits on the other side. "Niklaus." Elijah puts his hand on Klaus' shoulder. "It's a trick, Elijah." Klaus removes Elijah's hand. "No, brother. It's another gift. It's your chance-- it's our chance." Nicole was understanding where Elijah was going with this. "To what?" he looked at Elijah. "To start over. Take back everything we lost. Everything that was taken from us. Niklaus, this is your chance to raise a child where you robbed of that chance with Nicole." That hurt Nicole. She never saw this baby that way. "Niklaus, our own parents came to despise us. Our family was ruined-we were ruined. And since then, all that you have ever wanted-- all that we have ever wanted was a family. Now with Nicole, and a new baby; we could have that." Nicole kneeled in front of her father. "Please Dad. What you are sentencing that baby to is not right." Klaus held her face in his hand. "I will not be manipulated." 

He got up and walked away from them but Elijah vamp-speeds over to block his way. "So they're manipulating you. So what? With them, this girl and her child-- your children--live." He looked behind him at Nicole. She was just standing there by the bench listening to them. "I'm gonna kill every last one of them." Nicole's heart broke when she heard her father say that. He shoves Elijah and turns away but once again Elijah blocks him. "And then what? Then you return to Mystic Falls to resume your life as the hated one, as the evil hybrid? Is it so important to you that people quake with fear at the sound of your name the way your daughter does right now?" Nicole was afraid of her father now. She could see the heartless, ruthless hybrid everyone told her about. "People quake with fear because I have the power to make them afraid. What will this child offer me? Will it guarantee me power?" Nicole couldn't believe what she was hearing. She ran to them in hopes to calm him down. 

"Family is power, Niklaus. Love, loyalty-- that's power. This is what we swore to one another a thousand years ago, before life tore away what little humanity you had left, before ego, before anger, before paranoia created in this person before me someone I can barely even recognize as my own brother. This is us, the Original family, and we remain together, always and forever. I am asking you to stay here. I will help you and I will stand by you. I will be your brother. We will build a home here together. So save this girl." Nicole couldn't take being silent anymore. She had to say something. "Save your child Klaus." he looked at the anger and hurt in her eyes. She called him Klaus; he hated it. He knew she was angry at him. Elijah has placed a hand on Klaus' shoulder. Klaus brings his own hand to Elijah's shoulder in a brotherly gesture. "No." Klaus turns and walks off, leaving Elijah and Nicole to stand alone. Nicole buried her face in her Uncle's chest and cried for her sibling that was just sentenced to death by its own father.

Back in the Mausoleum The witches are talking. "Marcel and his vampires are out of control. Something had to be done." Sophie was speaking to an elder named Agnes. "And the solution is to bring in more vampires?" Nicole and Elijah are eavesdropping on the conversation. "These aren't just any vampires, Agnes. They're the Originals." Agnes rolls her eyes. "What makes you think you can control the hybrid?" Elijah and Nicole appear, leaning on the wall. "She can't. I'm not entirely certain that I can, either. But now that your coven has drawn his ire, I have a question: What prevents my brother from murdering you instead of cooperating?" Sophie takes a needle and shows it to the Original. She sticks the needle into her hand. "Ow!" Hayley says from the other side of the room. Elijah looks at her. There is a drop of blood on her hand, exactly at the same point where Sophie hurt herself. 

Nicole runs to her. "What did you do?" She asks Sophie. "The spell my sister performed, the one that got her killed? It didn't just confirm the pregnancy. It linked me to Hayley. So anything that happens to me, happens to her, which means her life is in my hands." Nicole wiped the blood off Hayley's hand and stood in front of her to protect her and her unborn sibling. "Klaus may not care about his own child, but it's very clear what it already means to you. If I have to hurt Hayley – or worse – to ensure that I have your attention, I will." Sophie was walking on very dangerous ground. Elijah is slightly amused. "You would dare threaten an Original?" Sophie shrugs. "I have nothing to lose." The grin disappears from Elijah's face."You have until midnight to get Klaus to change his mind." Nicole and Elijah exchanges glances. Fear in not just their eyes but Hayley's as well.
