ST. ANN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH

A priest is cleaning up a very run-down looking church when Rebekah enters with Nicole and starts looking around. He briefly looks up at her before going back to what he was doing. "Church is closed. If you want your horror fix, go take a ghost tour." Nicole laughed. "I don't much care for ghosts." She said. Nicole smirked at her. "I am, however, fascinated by window shutters. I've been on a town tour of them all day." Nicole interrupted her. "I noticed the windows of your attic have shutters." The priest rolled his eyes in disbelief. "Are you both really interested in shutters?" Nicole and Rebekah smiled. "I can assure you it's my current life obsession." Nicole decides to turn on the kindness so he stops being suspicious. "What's your name?" He changes his gaze from Rebekah to "Father Kieran. And you are?" Nicole extends a hand. "Nicole." He shakes it. He extends his hand again to Rebekah waiting for her name. "Mildly curious." Father Kieran sighs deeply as Rebekah notices a red stain on the nearby wall.

She nudged Nicole and walked toward the stain. "What happened here?" Kieran sighs again. "St. Ann's used to be the heart of the neighborhood. It's been abandoned for a while now... since the night of the massacre." Nicole looked back at Father Kieran waiting for him to explain. "Nine seminary students were killed... by one of their own." Nicole put a hand over her mouth to suppress a gasp. "You're standing on blood." Nicole stepped back noticing the stains on the floors. Rebekah broke Nicole's train of shock. "I'm not squeamish. Where's the attic?" Keiran shook his head. "Like I said, the church is closed." Rebekah moves herself right in front of his face and compels him. "Where is the attic?"Nicole frowned. She hated compulsion. "Past the sacristy, up the stairs." Rebekah smiled. "Thank you. Now, forget we were here." Rebekah walks away with Nicole hot on her heels. After a moment, Father Kieran shakes his head, as if shaking himself out of a daze.

Upstairs, Rebekah finds the attic and opens the door. "Is this it?" Nicole had a gut feeling it was. "I knew it!" Rebekah shouted. She tries to enter the room, but she is unable to cross the threshold, as though Davina has somehow magically revoked her invitation. Nicole tries as well but the same thing happens. "It's a protection spell." Rebekah stomped her foot. In the doorway, she looks over at her brother laying in his open coffin. His eyes open and look toward them. "Holy crap! Uncle Elijah?!" He uses his vampire telepathy to speak with both girls in their heads, using a memory of them going to an opera in New Orleans in the 1880s as a backdrop. She is dressed in 19th century finery and standing in front of a horse and carriage, looking incredibly confused.

Nicole is in shock touching her clothes. "What the bloody hell?" Nicole shrugged. Elijah approaches them from behind, smiling roguishly in his own fine clothing. "Rebekah, language, please!" Both girls spun around to see him. "Elijah!" "Uncle Elijah!" Nicole runs toward him and jumps into his arms. "I missed you so much." Elijah just smiled and set her back down. He was truly her best friend. Rebekah hugs him tightly before looking around them. "What is all this?"Rebekah asked. Elijah gave her a disappointed look. "You don't remember? We went to the opera house together. It was your first full day back into New Orleans' society after Klaus removed the dagger from you. It's a memory that only you and I share. Also, I needed to know it wasn't another one of Davina's tricks." Nicole just smiled realizing she was technically in the past. "Well, how are you even awake?" Elijah smiled. "Davina removed the dagger, unaware that doing so even once would negate the dagger's power. In a few hours, I shall be as good as new!" Rebekah became anxious. "So, pop us into the attic and we can find a way to get you out!"

Elijah pouted. "I'm afraid I'm not quite ready to leave yet, Rebekah." Nicole furrowed her brow at her uncle. "This girl, Davina, she's... curious. Willful, too." He pours himself, Nicole and Rebekah a drink. "Soon, I shall be able to speak to her, perhaps to even propose a truce of some kind. So, if we can end this war between the vampires and the witches, we'll be able to eliminate the threat to Hayley and her baby." Nicole was beginning to notice how infatuated her Uncle was with Hayley. "Perhaps then Niklaus and our entire family can finally know peace." He hands Nicole her drink first then Rebekah hers. "In the meantime, I need you two to look after Hayley. She is our family now, so I need her and her unborn child to fall underneath our protection." He holds out his drink to toast to her. Nicole nodded. "Swear to me, Rebekah." He returns them back to reality, where they still stand in the doorway, looking at him in his coffin. Nicole grabbed Rebekah's hand and gave a half smile. "I swear." Nicole hugged her aunt as thanks. "Let's get out of here." Rebekah turns to leave but Nicole takes one last glance at Elijah. "Please come home soon."
