Klaus sat at the bar just staring into nothingness. He was in drained. As was Nicole. The minute Elijah said Ivy was her mother, he knew he was her father. Nicole went behind the bar quietly; trying not to overstep her bounds. "You want a drink?" She asked studying him. Klaus looked up at her. "Bourbon. Please?" Nicole nodded and reached on the top shelf for their best bourbon. She poured him the drink along with one for herself. "Here you go. Cheers." Klaus chuckled at her. "Yeah cheers to finding my illegitimate love child." He spat. That hurt her. He couldn't just say daughter. He downed the drink. Nicole could tell he was not happy so she avoided eye contact. "So, how is it that you are a Lockwood?" Nicole looked up at him. "Tyler asked how you were my daughter... I'm asking the opposite." Nicole finished her drink and refilled Klaus' glass. "Well, Ivy left me with them when I was 2. Her and Carol were really close. She knew they would give me a good life and treat me like I was their own daughter." She paused and thought for a second. "After a year or so of being in their home, she signed me over to them and they adopted me." She said with a shrug. Klaus had guilt in his eyes. He couldn't understand why Ivy just left her. He remembers how excited she was about having a baby. He remembers Nicole being born and Ivy being so overwhelmed with joy.
He sighed and downed his second glass. "I'm sorry she did that to you. If I knew you were mine, I would've kept you with me when she was planning to leave." He said sadly. Nicole was pouring him another glass and looked at him not understanding what he meant. "Wait, you knew I was alive?" She asked surprised. Klaus nodded whilst downing his 3rd glass. "I delivered you." He now had tears in his eyes. "I remember it like it was yesterday. I was never fond of infants but something about you..." He was deep in thought as one tear left his eye. "I couldn't let go of you. Now it all makes sense." he and Nicole both had tears in their eyes. Ivy had Klaus help deliver his own daughter but she never told him that the baby was his. How do you do that to someone? Ivy was full of secrets and Nicole hated it.
"Well, Klaus, where do we go from here?" Nicole asked afraid of what his answer would be. Klaus looked at her with calm empathetic eyes. He knew now that she found him it would be impossible to be apart. "How about we just get to know each other a little more. We'll spend time together everyday." He said with a small smile. Nicole smiled back and wiped away her tears. "I'd like that." Klaus' smile grew. He got up and walked around to the behind the bar where Nicole was standing. "I promise you, I will not abandon you again." He said grabbing her hands. "In my thousand years on this earth; I've learned that family is the most important thing in the world. Always and forever, I will be here for you." He said and kissed her hand. Nicole lost it. She cried and wrapped her arms around her father. She had so many questions. So many choices to make. Either way she had to be ready for whatever was coming. And with the love and support of her friends, brother and new found family she knew she could do anything.
