Come that Monday, Nicole received a text from Carol while she was at work saying they were home. Nicole felt like she got punched in the stomach. Today was the day she broke the news to Carol & Tyler that she was moving out. Matt walked into the grill as Nicole was putting her phone away. "Hey Nic!" He said as he walked up to her. he saw the bags under her eyes and how pale she was. "Nic, you okay?" He asked concerned. Nicole looked up at him. "Yeah, just stressed out." She lied. Matt knew what was going on. He was pissed at Tyler for treating Nicole like she was one of them. She had done nothing wrong. That was her family. She had every right to be with them no matter who they were. Matt also had a sweet spot for Nicole due to them being each others first kiss when they were nine. "Tyler talking to you yet?" He asked curiously. Nicole shook her head and held back tears. "Is Jeremy working today?" He asked trying to find out what was up. She just nodded. She was trying not to talk because she knew she'd start to cry and not be able to stop.
Matt turned her to him and cupped her cheeks; making her face him. "Nic, talk to me." She shook her head and ran out of his arms to the back room. "Nicole, talk to me please? It's me! You can't keep all this bottled up." She fell to the floor and cried. Matt sat next to her and pulled her into his arms and let her cry. He hated seeing her like this. She was his first love and now like his big sister. He would do anything for her. "Please tell me whats going on. It's Ty isn't it?" He asked wiping her tears. Nicole nodded and calmed herself enough to talk. " Tyler and Carol left Friday afternoon to go see Whitmore and some other colleges. They didn't even tell me. They left me a note on the table when you first walk in the house." She said choking. She took a deep breath. "I know Tyler probably told her not to invite me but did I not just spend my whole life living with them? Trying to be a good 'daughter'? What did I ever do to deserve this? Tyler hates me and I did nothing wrong!" She yelled out of frustration and the tears spilled again. Matt felt terrible. He had no idea any of this was going on. He was so pissed at Tyler he wanted to knock his teeth out. "I'm so sorry Nic. If I knew he was being this bad I would've talked to him. He's such a dick." Matt said and rubbed Nicole's shoulder trying to comfort her. "Ok, get up." Matt said as he pulled Nicole up off the floor. "We don't open for another hour. Let's go to the house, tell them you're moving out, and get some of your stuff. Tomorrow, Jeremy and I will get everything else out. Okay?" He asked trying to make this easier on her. "You would do that for me?" Nicole asked wiping her tears. "Of course. Give me your phone." He asked putting his hand out.
Nicole gave Matt a questioning look but handed it to him. Matt went through Nicole's phone till he found the number he was looking for. "Hello Elijah, it's Matt Donovan." Nicole could hear Elijah on the other end. [Yes, Matthew, what can I do for you?] "I'm with Nicole. We're gonna head to the Lockwood's to get some of her stuff but I think things would go a lot smoother with you there." [Alright. Is this what Nicole wants?] Matt looked at her. Nicole nodded and took the phone. "Uncle Elijah?" [Nicole, do you want me there?] "Yes, please." [very well then. I'll be at the grill in 10 minutes.] "Uncle Elijah, please don't tell Klaus." [Alright, I wont.] "Thank you." [Always my dear. Be there soon.] He hung up. Nicole put the phone in her pocket. "You sure you're ready for this?" Matt asked worried about Nicole. "As ready as I'll ever be." She said with a shrug.
