Elijah stared at her waiting for a response. "Nicole?" She snapped out of her thoughts at her Uncle's voice. "Sorry. Just thinking." Elijah began to examine her face. He put a hand to her cheek. He went into her head. He saw all her memories of Jeremy and the way they looked at each other. He pulled them back to the present. "You care for him deeply." Nicole nodded. "But you're not in love with him...yet." Elijah said tilting his head to get a better look at Nicole's face with was parallel to the floor. She looked up at her Uncle. "he's my best friend. I wasn't allowed to see him as anymore than that." Elijah nodded. "Because he's Elena's brother or because of Bonnie?" Elijah asked. Nicole shook her head. "Both I guess." Nicole huffed in frustration.

Elijah nodded seeing how confused his niece is. "Well then just enjoy your time with him. As friends." Elijah leaned forward and kissed Nicole's forehead. He began to walk away. "Uncle Elijah..." Elijah turned back to her. "What do I do if he tells me that he is in love with me?" Nicole had tears building. Elijah put his hand on her cheek again to comfort her. She let some tears fall. "Are you scared Nicole?" She nodded. "I'm scared he's gonna tell me he is and if I tell him what I feel... He'll hate me." Elijah nodded. He understood what she meant. "You need to be honest with him. Tell him everything you feel. Whether he accepts it or not is his choice. There's not much you can change about his feelings." Nicole smiled understanding. "Thank you." Elijah kissed her hand and walked away.

Nicole went into her room, slammed her door and collapsed on her bed. She didn't know what to do about Jeremy. Should she give him a chance as a couple of just remain friends. Then again just like Stefan and Elena; she had to worry about hurting Bonnie's feelings. They weren't exactly close but she didn't need anymore enemies. Then again now that she was in New Orleans; it doesn't seem like she'd be moving back to Mystic Falls anytime soon. So how could her and Jeremy be together?

There was a knock on her door. She opened it to find Jeremy with video games. "You ready to get your ass beat?" He asked with a smirk on his face. Nicole pushed all her thoughts aside. "You're on Gilbert." Jeremy entered and hooked up his xbox to her TV. "I'm sorry Jeremy. I didn't mean to make you upset." Jeremy smiled and kissed her cheek. "It's ok. Let's just have some fun." He said as he pulled out the games onto the floor.

The afternoon had been well spent. Jeremy and Nicole had played video games until they decided to get some fresh air. Nicole wanted to take a walk around the town. Nicole introduced Cami to Jeremy at Rousseau's. Cami liked Jeremy for Nicole. After they left, Nicole showed Jeremy all the amazing spots in New Orleans. Unfortunately, they had decided on the walk as the weather was growing colder, and Jeremy had noticed Nicole shaking. The gentleman he was made him take off his jacket and give it to her. It was warm and had his scent all over. As they started to reach the compound, Nicole turned to him. "Thank you, for letting me borrow this." Nicole said and smiled. She started to pull his jacket off of her shoulders. Their walk had come full circle and they were standing outside the compound. "Keep it. It looks better on you anyways." Jeremy smiled, pulling the jacket closed around Nicole's shoulders once more.

Above them Klaus, Elijah and Marcel are all watching Nicole. "He's a hunter?" Marcel asked. "Was a hunter." Klaus answered. "He really does love her. I wish she felt the same for him." Elijah stated. Klaus nodded. "He's her mate." Elijah and Marcel's heads snapped to him. "Does Nicole know?" Marcel asks. Klaus shook his head and looked at the floor. "Niklaus you need to tell her." Elijah said. "I can't. If I tell her Jeremy; a mere human and her best friend is her mate..." He trailed off watching them below just talking and goofing around. "She wouldn't believe me." Elijah followed his gaze. "She has a right to know. This kid is her future whether she likes it or not." Marcel says looking at them. "I know. I will tell her when the time is right." Klaus says and turns to leave. He stops and turns back to them. "Do not utter a word of this to her. It is my job as her father to tell her." Elijah and Marcel both nodded.
