1 year later

Riley's POV

I was staring at my juice, stirring the straw around. It had been 1 year since the incident, and all us girls were kinda bummed. Michelle, one of our best friends, had been missing for a year. It was just sad to think about. Ms. Kate decided today wasn't going to be a good day and cancelled dance, so right now, Emily, Stephanie, Chloe, Tiffany, Giselle, and I were just sitting in squeezed silently. The boys were upstairs in the studio rehearsing. We could tell because we could hear them landing on the floor and cheering after doing flips. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket, and pulled it out to reveal a text from James.
James- leaving now. Free to come with?
I smiled at the text, quickly typing a response.
Riley- sure. Meet you outside.
I put my phone away, and looked up at the girls. "I'm heading home now." I told Em. She turned to look at me, and nodded.
"See you at home." She told me, as I gathered my things and headed outside. I waited beside James's car for him to come out. About 5 minutes later he came out the door with his dance bag.
"Hi." I smiled, the wind lightly blowing my short ombré hair in my face.
"Hey." He smirked, unlocking his car and getting in the drivers seat. I got in the passenger side, and closed the door as he threw his dance bag into the backseat. I put on mr seatbelt as James pulled out of the parking spot, and turned out of the parking lot, onto the busy Toronto street. The drive was quiet, which wasn't normal for us. Normally we were laughing and joking, but today everything was just bland and boring. I stared out the windshield as we came to an intersection. I noticed a woman yelling at a man outside a shop.
"Don't you dare rat us out Alex! I'm sure you don't want everyone at the studio to know your secret!" Michelle shouted at Alex, a j-trouper from the studio. I heard the sirens of the emergency vehicles, and soon saw the flashing lights appear, lighting up the dark sky above them. I mean, there are streetlights, but they seriously suck. Michelle turned and stomped away from Alex, anger obvious in her face. Her eyes narrowed on me, and she frowned. "I told you to stay over there!" She said to me angrily, pointing to where the other girls stood.
"I know but-" I started, but didn't get the time to finish before she was closing in on me.
"Did you get anything?!" She asked.
"No, but-" I lied, and got cut off by her again.
"Don't worry about the situation. I've got it covered. But we need to get out of here." She told me as the ambulance and police cars pulled over at the side.
