aleesha’s POV
Ashley was crashing. And when she crashes, she crashes HARD. After knowing someone for over 10 years, you learn to tell when they’re not normal. From her last texts, I knew she wasn’t going too well, even with Shaun. Something was wrong. I tried calling her phone over and over but she wasn’t answering. I sent texts and left messages but she didn’t reply. I was starting to freak out when my phone started blaring next to me, snatching it up. The caller ID was Ash.
‘ASH TALK TO ME’ I practically screamed into the phone but she replied with crying. She stuttered out some words but I didn’t understand. ‘I’m pregnant… With my dad’s fucked up kid’ she yelled and the line went dead. This sent me into panic mode, I knew about the rape but pregnant? She wasn’t even 18 yet, she couldn’t have a baby.
My phone started up again but this time it was a random number.
‘Hello?’
‘Aleesha? It’s Shaun’ I knew that voice any where, I was on the phone to Shaun diviney. ‘Aleesha? Ash needs you. Here. If I get a flight for you, will you come?’ Biting back a scream was hard but this wasn’t about me, this was about Ash. She needed me. ‘Of course, just tell me the details’ I stuttered. He hung up so I threw my phone down and started chucking shoes, clothes, makeup and my hair straightener into my bag; I threw on tights and any random top off the floor. If she was pregnant, we were going to have to be sure so I got my bike and rode into town. At the chemist, I bought a pregnancy test with funny looks from the lady I bought it from. I was skinny, there was no way she could think it was for me. When I got home, I stashed it in the bottom of my bag and called my mum, ready for a major argument, but surprisingly, she agreed I had to go. I was 18 now but she was protective, not wanting me to move out but letting me get on a plane to go to Sydney and meet some 21 year old guy from a band was something new. Something she never even would have considered a week ago. Shaun sent me the details for the flight and it left in an hour. I caught a bus to the airport expecting to have to explain myself to the airport people but it was like Shaun put a spell on them, they didn’t ask for a ticket or ID or anything.
By the time I landed in Sydney, it was getting dark and I was totally lost; I had never been to Sydney airport before and it was massive. Getting my bag off the carousel, I realised how stupid this was; Shaun wouldn’t meet me at the airport. He would get mobbed but as usual I proved myself wrong. Looking down at what I was wearing, I realised I should have paid more attention to my clothing choice, it was my Shaun Stack top. Now I looked like a total teenie, here to help my friend being picked up by her boyfriend wearing a top with him on the front. Standing by the door was Shaun and somehow he recognized me; he hugged me quickly and loosely ‘you’re the only one who’s gonna get through to her’ he told me before dragging me to his car. Being stuck in the car with Shaun for about an hour was more awkward than I thought it would be, it should have been a dream come true but I think we were both too wrapped up in our own thoughts to care about the other person. After about 20 minutes, he turned on the stereo, obviously unhappy with the silence, so at least the rest of the drive would be filled with sound. When we got to his house, he turned off the engine and looked me in the eyes ‘Aleesha, you have to do something’ he pleaded. Walking through the door, the first thing I noticed was Ashley sitting in the corner and some blonde sitting with her. Ignoring the blonde, I dropped my bag and ran at her but tripped and fell in front of her ‘Leesh’ she stuttered and stood up. I picked myself up and chucked my arms around her neck while she cried into my shoulder. The blonde stood up and patted her shoulder ‘Later, Ash. Shaun’s taking me back so you’re gonna be alone’ then she was gone. Shaun’s car started again and then it was silent.
‘Ash, are you sure?’ I muttered.
‘Yes, I’m pregnant. I haven’t had my period in the 2 months since Dad’ she cried harder. ‘But have you done a test?’ I pressed. I had to know the truth. ‘No’ she admitted ‘Well, it’s time to do one’ I told her. Breaking away from the hug, I pulled the little cardboard box from my bag and handed it to her; she took it with shaking hands and nodded lightly, heading up the hall way. I sat down amusing myself, a few minutes later she appeared again pale and crying holding the stick; taking it off her it was clearly two pink lines. ‘I’m pregnant’ she whispered before collapsing into tears again. She sat down next to me and told me everything I missed, including Taylah’s attack. I hugged her until the door opened and Shaun appeared, she took the stick back and walked up to him. He took it silently looking at it closely.
‘Shaun, I’m pregnant’ she stuttered.
