Like a Rose
From just a tiny scrap of life,
I have watched you grow,
and tower high like a flower
in a garden of thorns and dust.
You have grown so much
to be an unforgettable beauty
that takes away from the dismal earth
you’ve never let bring you down.
For years people have held themselves over you
to protect you from unpredictable disaster
so as you may grow into the rose you are becoming.
Blooming radiantly,
You catch the eyes of so many.
The ones so moronic not to love you
are the ones looking up at you through thorns and brambles,
trying to bring you down
so they could come close to compare themselves
with the wonder that you are.
Reach the sky
you beautiful rose.
Let nothing stomp you down
Or let you wither in the cold.
