Couldn’t Be a Genius

I couldn’t be a genius,
for we haven’t got the money
to send me to the most prestigious universities
and master knowledge of the mind
above all else.

I am not a name that will be known
past forever after, for all that I have learned
and done to help the world.
I couldn’t be the inspiration
to initiate world peace,
for lack of credible insight under a title
that does not read Ph.D.

The potential of bountifully impending knowledge
is available only to those who can afford it.
Seeing the world first-hand at its darkest,
those of little wealth grasp a closer cure
to end suffering in societies twisted state.

Some are poor,
in which they became for good reason.
Witless, a good portion of humanity don’t administer
the intellect to hold a dollar to their name.
Disappointingly, too many don’t care to learn.

Knowledge is the currency
in which the world is run,
bought by hard work and abundant income.
I could never be a genius, for I haven’t got the money.
