I surfaced on the other side of the lake and glanced around for a few moments. There was a large wide-open space surrounded by the glowing cavern walls. On the other side of the large space were some natural waterfalls--and what were the odds--another pool or lake.

I dragged my wet self out of the protection lake I was in and stood on the cavern floor once again. I quickly lit myself aflame before taking a few steps closer to the center of the space.

Hey, at least I was dry now.

"Don't look at me. Go away while you still can." A semi-familiar voice stung the air. I was quick to peer around frantically before spotting a man with his back turned to me in front of the falls--which perhaps were the springs of pure water rumored to be in the deps of this place.

"Why?" I asked, "There's a monster in here, you must know that. We can still escape. I have the power of fire and I seemed to get here just fine. A friend of mine is coming; we can both get you out of here safe too! We can rescue you."

"You're not supposed to be in here. I don't need to be rescued."

I shrugged, "yeah I know I'm kind of a huge rule breaker. Why are you here? And why don't you wanna leave?"

The man hesitated answering for a few seconds before shouting, "Get away from me I'm a monster!"

I attempted to sympathize with the man, "If you're a monster then I'm just as much a monster than anyone else. I break all the rules and use my powers to do what I please. I don't listen to anyone, I can't protect anyone, and I can't save anyone. I ran away, I left my whole entire city to burn down and be attacked because I was stupid and ran. All those people were hurt because of me. Why did Thalia choose to protect me? I'm not strong enough to even do the little things yet alone the big things."

"You're the one Thalia choose?" The man asked, almost in fear of me. He attempted to glance back at me without me seeing his face.

"I'm the chosen one." I sigh while putting my hands in my pants pockets and kicking a small rock out of the way, "But for being the chosen one I'm kinda useless. I'm coming unarmed to see this monster that is rumored to be here that is apparently very dangerous."

"You need to run...the monster is coming..."

I heard Max surface from behind me. It was only a few seconds before he shouted, "Heather!"

I quickly turned my vision to Max, who was pointing back past me. When I turned back around, the man was gone and a huge monster stood in its place.

The creature was littered with blue scales and had a long thick tail. Its feet were large--same with its toes--or the four toes it had. Its arms hand human like hands save the lack of one finger. Nevertheless, the hands were large enough to pick me up with--And the head was like the head of a dragon. It had the same golden yellow beady eyes and scales--and the spikes running down its back--they made the beast look even more threatening.

I took a few steps back, "M-max, this thing is a lot bigger than you described it..."

"I didn't say the caverns were small," Max commented.

The monster quickly made its way over to me and picked me up in his large firm fist. I screamed but couldn't escape. He had my hands pinned down at my sides.

"Heather!" Max shouted once again running up to the feet of the beast.

"Max do something you idiot!" I shouted as the monster slammed his foot on the ground.

Max reached for his sword, only to remember he was weaponless, "I don't have my sword!"

"Do something!" I shouted again, "anything!" I screamed again as the monster drew back me in his hunky fist quickly before smashing it in the wall again, "you're surrounded by water this should be easy!" I attempt to light myself aflame, but that fails due to all the water the beast had in him. I couldn't do anything to him. He was eating my fire.
