"Squee!!" You covered your ears from the high-pitched shrieks as the girls hung on to each other tightly.

     "No way _!"

     "You really stayed with Alfred?!"

      "So?"

"So?"

The girl rolled her eyes, setting her juice on the lunch table, "SO, how was he?"

Your cheeks immediately went red, the others giggling. Even Eliza smiled. The girls loud excitement made others look over, hoping to God that they didn't hear any of the conversation. Though throughout the day you had received some odd, lingering looks. After all, some of the boys had seen you leave his room. Oh God. You wanted to bury your face in your hands yet at the same time couldn't help but smile slightly.

"I told you! It wasn't like that!"

"Mhmm, sure. Next time I expect full details." She stood up, throwing her trash away before heading to class.

The others followed suit, Eliza the last one to leave. She slung her bag over her shoulder putting a soft hand on your arm.

"Don't worry _, I believe you. He's your best friend, isn't he?"

She left before you could answer. People hurriedly headed off as the bell sounded. You sighed, quickly gathering your things. You couldn't be late-after all, exams were coming up. The hype from the ball had come and gone, everyone slowly returning to normal. Well, mostly everyone. You were glad you and Alfred had reconciled, albeit through unconventional circumstances.

Tap! Tap! On your shoulder. You spun around.

"Oh hey Feliciano."

The short Italian smiled, "Ciao Bella!"

"Um, you need something?" You took a step towards the door, not wanting to be late for class.

The Italian's face flushed a shade of pink, squirming slightly.

"Ah you see...well I heard something from Ludwig..."

Ludwig?

"And he said he heard that you and...well that you and Alfred went home together after the ball..." Oh. My God. Feliciano couldn't even look you in the eye as he spoke, his head bowed towards the floor.

"I see..."

You hadn't expected the news to travel THAT fast!

"So?" He asked.

"So?"

"Is it true?"

You blushed heavily before brushing him off, "It's just a rumor Feli, do you believe all the ones you hear?"

Heading towards class your mind wandered back to that night. It had been one crazy night after all. An image of Alfred flashed to mind. His mussed hair, his unbuttoned shirt, his white tank top showing through. That stupid grin he always wore. Not now, _! You couldn't afford to be thinking about things like that.

You inhaled deeply before entering the classroom, knowing you'd get chewed out by the teacher. At best you'd be made to stay after and clean. You quickly went to your seat pulling out your books and pencils. After a few minutes people grew bored with you, returning to their doodles, sleeping or staring out the window.

Despite desperately wanting to think about other things, you had taken fairly good notes. As you expected the teacher made you stay after class, a bummer since school was now over. The broom swept up dirt, dust bunnies scattering under the desks. Leaves were stirred up by Autumnal gushes of wind, spiraling out of control. It was another beautiful day, conflicted about whether you wanted winter or not. A presence at the door made you look up.

"Hello." Eliza smiled, walking into the room before hopping up onto a desk, legs swinging.

She watched you sweep for a few minutes in silence.

"Umm, I'll be here for awhile so you can go on back to the dorm if you'd like."

"That's okay, there's something I want to talk to you about."

You felt the air change, the broom stopping. She was completely serious, the mood filling you with uncertainty.

"Okay...let's hear it."

She sighed softly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear, "I wanted to talk to you about the attacks."

You swallowed. Nothing could ever prepare you for the dread you'd feel deep inside whenever you heard that word. She was serious yet not stony, flecks of sorrow decorating her face. She knew all the pain you had gone through and was determined to help you as a friend.

"I think you should go to the Headmaster."

"What?" You were completely taken by surprise, "But didn't you say he wouldn't be able to help me?"

"That's what I thought-but there's something different about you, _. I don't know what it is but maybe he could"-

"Other people said he couldn't help me even. Besides, Alfred said he'd protect me"-

"Do you really think he's capable of that?" She sighed, hopping off the desk.

"Look, I'm not saying he wouldn't try his best but there's no guarantee that he could keep you safe."

You looked away, upset.

"I'm happy you two made up, I really am. But this isn't about whether he could or couldn't. He...he was one of them, _. It would destroy him if he ever hurt you again."

You bit your lip, tears threatening to burn their way forward, "I-I know. I just...what could the Headmaster do?"

She placed a hand on your shoulder, "He knows more about vampires than any of us. Don't worry, I'll go with you okay?"

You looked up into her warm smile, wiping a stray tear aside.

"Okay. Let's do this."
