The first thing that registered was the overpowering pungent smell of antiseptic. White lights burned through your closed eyelids, shutting them tighter with the hope of darkness.
Your eyes adjusted as you opened them at the sound of footsteps. You were in a concrete walled room. No windows. One solitary, metal door on the far left wall. There was a singular knock before it gave way, revealing a figure.
"Headmaster?!"
"_, how good it is to see you again. I had surely missed your visits."
You grit your teeth as he sauntered inside the room, stopping a few feet away.
You shot up only to have something restrict your movements, glancing back at the thick tubing burrowed into your arm.
"I wouldn't make any quick movements if I were you. You're only alive because of that transfusion. Well, that and another small thing."
His jovial smile faded, taking a step closer.
"Miss _, I had never imagined this happening in all my years as Headmaster of this academy."
"Sorry to destroy your vision but it was one of your other students this time, not me."
He offered a short laugh.
"Why am I here? Where exactly is here?"
You looked around the room, bare fluorescent bulbs hanging from the ceiling.
"A safe house."
"Safe house?"
"As the name suggests it is a place where you'll be safe."
"I need to see Arthur."
"I'm sure you do. However the guilty student is still at large. He could very likely come back. Thus you will stay here."
You gulped, the air making you feel sick.
"_ I'm not sure you realize this but your very existence is something bizarre indeed. In fact, I wasn't one-hundred percent convinced until I analyzed your sample of blood. Has Mr. Kirkland ever mentioned anything to you?"
You remembered him in the bedroom, wanting to speak but deciding not to at the last moment.
"No, he hasn't. What are you getting at?"
The headmaster sighed, "Really, that boy. He's supposed to be your protector after all..."
He cleared his throat, "Tell me, have you heard of the Water of Life?"
You mulled on the phrase until it clicked, remembering meeting with some higher ups with Arthur.
"They say the Water of Life could give plentiful years to whoever drinks it."
"If this elixir were to exist it would forever shatter our hopes of a co-existent society. Humans and vampires would fight to the death for everlasting life."
"Ah, so you have heard of it."
"What does this have to do with me?"
He took a few steps closer, his mouth right by your ear, "Darling, you ARE the Water of Life."
Time seemed to have stopped. The Headmaster straightened up, crossing to the far side of the room before sitting down on a wooden chair. He silently gazed back at you, waiting for you to speak.
"How can a person be eternal life?"
"Well, not a person, more or less your blood."
"Does this mean that I would live forever?"
