You shuffled down the stairs into the communal kitchen, hair tangled, (color) slippers on your feet. You opened up the tall cupboards taking out (brand) cereal, pouring it into a bowl. Drops of milk splattered the table, slumping into a chair.

"Ouch!" You held your cheek, right side of your jaw hurting.

You think I'd be used to this by now...

Newly budding fangs were exceptionally sensitive. Something as hard [or soft] as cereal could cause a sharp pain to fill your mouth, leaving it sore for days. Sighing, you placed the bowl into the sink, popping some pieces of bread into the toaster.

You didn't have time for this. Today was a day off from school but that didn't mean you could lay in bed no matter how much you might want to. You had a meeting with the 'elites', as Arthur put it. They were a group of non-conforming progressive vampires interested in creating a co-existent society of humans and vampires. And you, previously the former, would surely have insight on how humans perceived them.

Using me as the benchmark? I don't think I can answer for the rest of humanity...

Buttering the toast, you climbed the stairs back to your dorm, Mei already gone out shopping.

She surely doesn't waste any time, does she?

Debating what would be seen as 'appropriate', you landed on a thin (color) cardigan and a pair of black dress pants.

BUZZ, BUZZ!

The car is waiting at the gate. Do be punctual-Arthur

Jeez, I'm coming!

The morning air turned slightly cooler, leaves beginning to change. A black car sat behind the iron gate, the chauffeur stepping outside, opening the shiny door as you climbed inside.

"Good morning. You did know the meeting was today, didn't you?"

"Yes."

"Then why are you so out of breath?"

"I had some problems at breakfast, okay?"

He gave a sideways glance, wearing a neatly pressed suit, faint odor of cologne filling the car.

"What sort of problems can grains give?"

"I was eating cereal when my jaw started hurting."

He stared back for a few seconds before leaning over, a finger opening your mouth.

"A-a-arthur!!" You turned away, pink spreading.

"I was just checking to see if your fangs were okay. They can break easily at this stage and are susceptible to infection if you aren't careful. Have you been using that cream I gave you?"

You remembered the full jar of nasty tasting paste hidden in the bottom of your dresser.

"Of course."

"Liar."

He sighed, "I know the transition isn't easy but if feels as if you aren't trying."

"What? Of course I am! I try hard at my lessons, my"-

"Forget it. That was rude of me; I apologize." He turned aside, emerald eyes looking out the window. Except he wasn't looking at the scenery.

"_ I-" He cut himself off, rethinking, "Don't be nervous today. They are just other people who want to talk with you. I know you can handle it." He gave a warm smile, however brief.

Was he nervous too?

The car rolled to a stop, the sound of the driver's feet hitting loose gravel. He let Arthur out before circling to the other side, holding your hand to help you stand. The first thing you saw was an enormous white building, stone gargoyles protecting the large entrance.
