Snow fell outside the metal framed window, falling softly to the ground. You sat up in the bed, pulling the red covers up to your chin. Your hand strayed on the heavy purple curtains, turning your head as the door opened.

The kind older woman stepped inside with a smile, setting the silver tray of breakfast down on the side table.

"Good morning, darling." She smiled, "I know you must still be feeling weak so I thought why not enjoy breakfast in bed?"

"It smells delicious."

"There's a variety of eggs, blood scones, raspberry tart, and a special smoothie to get your energy back."

"Thank you, I really appreciate it. You've all been so nice to me."

"No need to thank us! You saved our child's life, we will forever be in your debt. Who knows, you might even be our daughter in law." She winked.

Your face immediately turned red, "D-d-daughter in law?! But he turned me so doesn't that mean..?"

She giggled, "Vampire relationships sure are confusing, aren't they? But don't worry, with your additional classes next semester you'll be up to speed in no time. Ring if you need anything."

You smiled to yourself. This was really happening. There were many new things you had to get used to, including your thirst. You took a sip of the smoothie, feeling refreshed. Not only physical things like your newly budding fangs, but also the politics of the vampire world.

"Hello?" A voice sounded from behind the door.

"Come in." You grinned, Arthur stepping inside the room.

He walked over, sitting down on the edge of the bed under the drooping lace canopy.

"How are you feeling?"

"Much better, thanks to your mom."

"Her cooking sure can do wonders." He smiled fondly, grabbing your hand.

"A-arthur?"

"I'm just...so happy."

You squeezed his hand gently, "I am too."

He slowly let go, tugging at his victorian styled collar. He looked really smart dressed like this, a black vest over a ruffle shirt, a broach on his breast pocket. It was a real treat to see him out of his school uniform.

"Her blood scones are to die for." He smirked, handing it to you.

Your eyes drifted towards the window, powdery snow cascading to the ground. As odd as the past couple of months were you were beginning to really love it here. Figures outside caught your attention.

"What are they doing here?" You asked, pressing your nose against the cold glass.

He laughed, "Do you friends need a reason to visit? They all miss you. Do you think you can meet them downstairs?"

"Physcially able to yes. But...what if"-

"Nonsense. They all love you dearly. After the trial you've gained popularity. I have a whole room dedicated just to gifts for you from strangers around the globe."

You moaned, flopping down onto the bed.

"_, c'mon. After all you've been through this is the fun part. You get to be with friends over winter break, sipping coccoa by the fireplace."

He made it sound delightful and carefree.

"Hurry up, time to get dressed." He ordered, tugging the blanket off you.

"What should I even wear?"

"You have a closet full of gowns, take your pick. I'm sure you'll look stunning in anything you choose."

Arthur had been acting different now that the transformation was complete. The first few days you were so weak you could only feed on his blood, not able to eat any real food. But after awhile you gained some of your energy back. Arthur felt a new sensation-protectiveness. He would gaurd you with his life, acting much like a father in that sense. You couldn't go outside until you were better, you couldn't eat tough foods like steak (until your fangs were stronger), and you couldn't leave your room without his assistance.

His fingers began unbuttoning your blouse, red spreading across your face.

"GET OUT!!"

You threw the scone just as he closed the door behind him.

Geez...he really needs to keep his protective instinct in check. You weren't helpless. Soon you found yourself laughing at the absurdity of everything. Your friends, the trial, the letters from strangers expressing their admiration of you and your bravery. That you were the key to making a society that involved both races.

You smiled fondly as you slipped into the (color) dress, a bit excited to see everyone. Who knew what adventures would await you downstairs?
