Alfred thundered down the hallway, pushing Arthur into the stairwell.

"What do you want from me?"

"You've been awfully friendly with the headmaster lately."

He scoffed, "As Student Council it's only natural that we'd interact more than a regular student."

He bunched up the Englishman's collar in his hand, "Cut the crap dude! Something is wrong with _ and I want to know what."

"How would I know? Besides, she seems normal to me. Are you sure you're not over-thinking it?"

"..."

He pulled his collar out of the man's hand, "Honestly. Next time you have a wild idea go to someone else."

Alfred grabbed his sleeve before he could walk away.

"It's common knowledge that you're a pure-blood. We all know what that means."

He squinted behind his glasses, "I don't appreciate your insinuating tone, Alfred. You know best that hurting her is my last intention. Perhaps if you had a lick of common sense you'd give up this silly detective game. Or better yet, start asking the right person these questions."

"What?"

Not bothering to answer, Arthur quickly walked away.

The room was entirely white, floors made of swirled marble. Romantic busts sat on pedestals, looking more like a museum than a home. It felt like one; cold and distant. Arthur walked across the floor taking a seat on the wide couch. He waited for a few minutes, standing when the wide double doors opened.

"Ah, Arthur." A woman smiled, holding her hands out towards him, "It's been so long my love."

"Mother." He wrapped her in a brief hug.

"I see father is not with you?"

She smiled tightly, "He's away on business."

He held her hand, escorting her to the couch.

"Ah, thank you. I awake everyday feeling years older."

His brow furrowed. As much as he didn't like to think it...his mother would surely side with the Headmaster if she knew.

"How is life at the Academy?"

"Let's cut the small talk for now, mother. I have come on rather important business as well. Please instruct me on the true ways of a pure blood."

Her eyes widened slightly. She was silent for some time before speaking again, "Why the sudden interest son?"

He could in no way elude to his true motives. If any previous generation vampires learned of the 'Water of Life' it would cause disorder. Tch, the Headmaster may try to help the vampire community but also may sell _'s blood to the highest bidder. Something he could not allow.

"It's time that I learned, don't you think?"

"Hmm, you are of age. I suppose why I can see why you'd be interested. As a pure blood it's only natural for you to want more power." Something gleamed within her green eyes.

Arthur smiled tightly, "Please show me the absolute power our kind obtains."
