The door creaked open, a shadowy figure stepping into the room.
"My, my."
Arthur straightened, "Headmaster."
"I suppose the threat of my wrath wasn't enough to deter you. Shame really. You are aware these acts are ground for expulsion."
"Anything is better than watching the horrors you put her through."
"Horrors?" He feigned to be offended, "You'll have to face the entirety of the council, boy. You do know what will happen if they don't find your reasoning to be sound."
"Of course. But my reasoning IS sound." He looked the man over, smiling, "To me it seems as if you're afraid. What if they find your petty reasons for casting your seal to be frivolous? After all, the secret of Precision Academy wasn't at threat."
He frowned, "What do you know? You believe that because you're her friend you can trust every words she speaks? She's a MORTAL. They're quick to betray one another for personal gain. I've seen it happen many times within my life and will no doubt witness it again for many years to come."
"Not all humans are the same."
"Ha! What makes her different? She was practically BEGGING for me to erase her memories. You students had your way with her blood then cast her aside, causing valid reason to protect not only this academy but the entirety of the vampire race."
"_ would never do something like that! You've seen it yourself-she treats us all as individuals, whether we're human or not. This isn't the Dark Ages, humans are changing."
He chuckled deeply, shaking his head side to side, "How naive you've become. While mankind IS changing, it certainly isn't for the better. They've fought the same plagues for thousands of years, not once removing an ailment. There is still war, poverty, crime, and diseases. Humans don't have the resources to fight against these. Thus the rich are the ones who will succeed, leaving ones like _ alone to rot."
"That's why we need to join forces! Humanity won't last forever, they need our help"-
"Fool! Think about what you're saying! The top men will want near immortality for themselves, selling it for the highest price. You'll create a shift in the balance; the new immortals will cast away any hopes for changing society, leaving the poor in power. That can only spell destruction."
"They don't get to decide who can and can't live forever. It is our gift, thus we decide."
"You forget some very important facts. Humans believe in God, million of deviations of a heavenly being. Do you think some would accept our gracious gift? Or do you think they'd crow 'Only God gets to live forever! Humans were never destined for eternal life!'"
Arthur sighed, furious. He knew the combination of vampire and human society was possible, though he knew it couldn't be done overnight.
"We're losing the main focus. _ is not your plaything. She is a trustworthy human, I bet my life on it."
A sly grin spread across the man's face, fangs shining, "Is that so? I do hope you're being honest. I'd love to watch you die in a pit because of your misplaced faith."
He smirked, locking eyes with the young man before heading towards the door, "I believe I'll see you in front of the council. Your expulsion but also your LIFE depends on gaining their favor. Heh, what an interesting chain of events."
