"Have everything?"

The summer sun was shining brightly, a calm breeze tousling your hair. Arthur lifted the remaining suitcase out of the black car's trunk, setting it down on the asphalt.

"It'd be too late to say yes, wouldn't it?" You offered a gentle smile, raising your hands over your head to stretch.

After hours of flying we're finally here!

"That's true. Though if you left anything important Mother could mail it to you."

For the last few months you have been living at the Kirkland estate. Since the trial your life has been nothing short of a whirlwind. Members of high society have been requesting to meet with you, the phones constantly ringing. Arthur has his share, too, though he seems more accustomed to the spotlight.

It still seemed unbelievable. The first few weeks felt like a dark dream but you had come to accept reality.

You were a vampire.

Your meals were mainly liquid for the longest time, Arthur scolding you when he caught you raiding the pantry. At first the blood made you sick, Arthur having to force feed you as you couldn't eat anything else. As time passed you could eat regular 'human food' and grew accustomed to other parts of life.

"Are you excited for your lessons?" He asked, straightening up the luggage.

Replacing the traditional core classes were your lessons. They would teach you all about vampire ethics and societal rules. You wanted to know as much as possible; a hidden world had just become visible and you wanted to learn your role in it.

Arthur extended the handle on the suitcase, looking ahead with conviction. His blonde hair hung above his emerald eyes, slim body clad in black slacks and a plaid sweater vest. He looked like the same old Arthur but you knew better. He had changed.

His hand gripped one of your suitcases, pulling it next to him.

Well, some things stayed the same.

You followed his gaze, the hill leading up to Precision Academy looming before you. Your heart beat faster than normal as your mind raced over the possibilities.

Arthur turned his head revealing a large, comforting smile.

"Shall we?"

Memories flooded back as you took in the familiar scene. The grounds were neatly trimmed, buildings and sidewalks power washed clean. Your heartstrings tugged at the sight of the greenhouse, the site of where it all began.

"Need help settling in?"

"No thank you, besides, boys aren't allowed."

"The move in date isn't over yet; men and women are allowed in either dorms. A lot of parents have come with the freshmen."

"I know how it'll turn out if I say yes."

"Don't make me beg. I need to know you're safe. What if your roommate is a weirdo?"

You laughed, "Fine. You can meet my new roommate but that's it. When are you going to tone down this 'protective parent' act?"

"It's not an act. You're my responsibility, after all. I wish you could understand that."

Your footsteps fell against the walkway, ivy covered building growing larger in the distance.

"I'm not helpless anymore. It's not like when I first turned and could only drink your blood."
