You failed. You knew it. You sighed as you handed in your exam, the other students smiling, relaxed now that they were over with. A few students, you included, wore gloomy expressions. Of course you wouldn't know for sure whether you failed or not but you could feel that you had.
"Hey _, want to meet up with the other girls to celebrate?" Eliza asked wearing a smile. You didn't have to guess whether she passed or not.
"Um..." Thankfully your phone buzzed.
Hey why aren't you answering me? Meet me-
You stopped reading Al's message. Like hell you'd meet him anywhere. Not that it was his fault, but still...
"I don't mean to pry but don't you think that hurts his feelings?"
"...Eliza, I"-
"I know you've been through a lot and I don't know what happened but he's your best friend. You should treasure him more."
"..."
"Anyway, so what do you say?"
The only thing you felt like doing was lay face down in your bed and sleep.
"I'll have to pass, sorry."
"Aww, we were looking forward to having you there. But I understand. You can always come later if you change you mind." She smiled briefly before leaving you in the hallway.
You nervously climbed the stairs, the school almost empty now. With exams over the students went into town to celebrate so there wouldn't be many on the grounds tonight. Good, you thought. Passing the room you were glad to see it was empty. Arthur must have went to celebrate with friends. You couldn't really picture it but didn't try too hard. He had done the unspeakable. Even as you thought that a part tugged at you, a part saying to give him a chance to apologize.
No, I don't want his half-hearted apology.
Your fingers knocked on the Headmaster's door. Silence. You went to knock again when the door opened, the man slightly surprised. He covered it up with a smile.
"Ah, miss _ you're here quite early. Our appointment isn't until later this evening."
Silence.
"In a rush to get it over with? I see. Well, I have a few minutes I suppose I could spare. Come in."
Before you could protest about spending his valuable time he walked back inside the dimly lit room, your feet slowly following. He sat down behind the ornate desk, this time covered in scattered papers.
"Exam time is a busy time for all of us."
He quickly swept them aside, his green eyes landing on you.
"U-um..."
"Are you alright?"
"Huh?"
"Forgive me for intruding but it seems as if you are quite down."
You bit your lip. You'd have to tell him, you'd have to. Though you really didn't want to. You wanted to forget everything that has happened. Is there a way to induce amnesia? He broke through your thoughts.
"I know it may be sensitive but if it pertains to the issue at hand I'd like to know."
His eyes were serious; you'd have to comply.
"...Yes."
"So my intuition was correct."
"Y-yes. There was another incident."
