You could hear the Headmaster's words echoing in your head, going round and round. All the fears you've suppressed had rushed back like an ocean wave, pushing you under in a sea of panic.

What did I get myself into?

Red tainted your memory...his eyes, grin, tongue wrapping around your finger. His screams. You found yourself wishing you could forget...and that scared you.

No, _.

You reasoned. If you hadn't been so clumsy none of this would've happened. He wasn't the one to be blamed. You resolved to be stronger from now on.

                                "You're human?"

Why was he so surprised? Surely there were other humans here...wasn't there? It wasn't possible...was it?

You shook your head. This was your fault. You were reckless, always insisting on doing things yourself. So you thought about ways to start 'cut-prevention'-no more picking up broken glass or handling scissors. You'd have to be more careful no on.

BUZZ, BUZZ

_ I sincerely apologize for yesterday. Roderich is sorry as well, he said it's never happened before. Are you all right?-Arthur

You sighed, thinking of how to respond.

I'm glad I was there when I was...He is truly sorry for what happened.-Arthur

His words didn't help ease you any. You shoved your phone into your pocket, trying your best to be busy. If you were busy you wouldn't be able to think about it anymore. Time passed, sitting in the desk at your night class. Your sleepyhead partner, Ivan, was indifferent towards your project idea, a severe burn healing cream.

"Sounds good to me." He said with a smile.

The rest of the night you two swapped ideas, using the room's computers to research and compare notes.

You were a bit relieved today. It was the last time you'd be performing 'civic duties'. The school decided that having day and night classes you should have the rest of the time to study. You sighed, wringing the yellow sponge out over the bucket. You dragged it across the blackboard. Something oddly antique in this modern school. Though that was the ambiance they were going for, you supposed.

"Aww, I'll miss seeing you."

You jumped slightly, Gilbert leaning in the doorway.

"..."

"Nothing to say? Really, you're taking this fairly well."

"Hmph. I think you and the Headmaster would be good friends."

He frowned, "I highly doubt that...What, did he suggest the same thing?"

"..."

"I see."

He grew serious...sad almost.

"Whatever you do...I don't suggest listening to him."

?

He smiled again, "I know. I'll tell if you give me something in return."

"...."

Frowns, "fine. See you later, _." Turns to leave.

"Wait!"

You weren't sure why you called out. But you had.

"...What isn't he telling me?"

"You know he's a pure-blood right? Same as Arthur."

"Arthur...?"

"You didn't know? Then again there's a lot you don't know about."

"I do too!"

"Really?" He asked, not believing you.

"I know how vampires are born...and they burn easily..."

"Ha! There's still much hidden but then again that might be a good thing."

You disagreed, "Then tell me."

He looked back at you, your eyes serious, strong.

He was speechless for a moment before stepping closer, "You trust me?"

"Not in the least."

"Tch." He scowled, hair hanging above his red eyes.

"But I will. For now. I need to know."

"...All right. There are other students who are interested in you, _."

He watched your expression, "Yes. One of them uncovered something interesting. That your application to the Academy was accepted last minute."

"That's true. But what does that have to do with anything?"

"Let's just say there's been some interesting...coincidences."

"Like what?"

"Do I have to spell everything out to you? I'm sure you noticed by now. You're the only human here."

So you were right...you were completely alone. The only human.

"Isn't that interesting?"

"...I had my suspicions. The Headmaster learned of the attacks" he snorted but you continued, "and wanted to cooperate with me."

What was this feeling? You could only look at your hands or the freshly mopped floor. You could feel his eyes on you, never straying.

"He said he could help me. Make the pain easier to deal with."

"And you agreed?"

"Of course not! That would mean forgetting about my friends...even if there were bad memories I wasn't willing to throw away the good with the bad."

"Wasn't?"

You bit your lip, "It's gotten better...but I'm only fooling myself if I think it'll never happen again. You couldn't imagine the pain."

"Yes. I can." You looked up, his face stony. He struggled with himself, debating if he should speak or not.

"You know how vampires are born. Every non-pure blood remembers when they were turned. Except that pain is a million times worse."

He stood deep in thought by the door before his red eyes met yours.

"So _, how are you going to pay for that information?"

"W-what?"

"You didn't think I'd share that for free, did you?" He smirked, fangs gleaming.

"You! You tricked me!" You backed away, panic rising in your chest.

"Oh, you make me out to be such a villain."

"After I just trusted you-told you about my pain"-

"Pain is natural! It will NEVER leave. Time you learned that fact, leibling."

The tear streamed down your cheek, him stopping in his tracks.

"A guilt trip won't work"-

"Not everything is about you!" He was surprised at your outburst. You had had enough. You weren't going to live this life anymore.

"I'm so tired of just being everyone's PLAYTHING. You're right, I'm a human-this is no place for me."

"What are you going to do?"

"I'm leaving Precision Academy."
