The metal chair was uncomfortable, fluorescent lights harsh on the eyes.
"All right Miss _." The doctor walked into the white room wearing a formality smile.
"Everything else checks out, all that's left is to draw your blood."
You frowned slightly.
Needles...
The man in the lab coat tinkered around on the desk, placing instruments on a metal tray.
"Have you ever had your blood drawn? It feels just like a mosquito bite and then it's over."
Oh God. Do I have to be awake for this?
He swabbed your arm, resting the needle against a blue vein. You tightened as he inserted the needle, drawing out blood.
A mosquito bite, huh?!
"There, all done."
He cleaned it up with a cotton ball, placing a band-aid over it.
"Oh..."
"You're free to go now." He smiled.
Time to get out of here.
You left the building looking over the bandage. It still felt sore but wasn't terrible. Compared to that dingy room outside was bright and relaxing. The move in dates were over, all the students settled in.
All? That means...
You headed towards the familiar structure, smiling when you saw a crown of long, light brown hair. The woman turned around, yellow gardening gloves on her hands, an orange flower pin in her hair.
"_!" She was frozen in surprise, quickly recovering.
"Eliza!" You grinned, giving her a big hug.
"Oh no, I'll get dirt on you."
"It's fine." You brushed off your top, "What's new in the greenhouse?"
"We're transplanting the new order."
"We?"
"Oui, mi amor."
You turned to see Francis in the doorway, the top buttons of his purple shirt undone, wavy blonde hair held back by a charcoal ribbon.
"Ah, if it isn't the campus playboy."
He mocked offense, brushing back his bangs.
Eliza laughed, "Playboy? No, just French."
"Exactly." He smiled, stepping closer.
"Are you helping Eliza?"
"I'm caretaker of the roses and gazebo.' He leaned in, whispering, "I could show you, _."
"I'll pass."
"Why so cold mademoiselle?"
"Wouldn't your time be better spent if you found a good woman you could be serious with instead of stringing along helpless girls?"
"He can't help it. He's a flirt. Even if he stopped they'd fall for him."
"I guess...anyway, a friend is taking me to dinner. Let's meet again soon Eliza."
"Just a friend?" She teased, "I look forward to it."
You smiled, stepping out of the greenhouse heat. Francis' purple eyes lingered on where you stood, a serious expression on his face.
