*yawn~*
You stretched in your bed before clicking off the alarm clock, red numbers flashing. Time for night classes. You got up from bed, wandering down the hall to shower. It was nice and quiet, almost all the other women quietly doing homework or listening to music in their rooms.
You fastened your bow, flattening out your skirt. You would be working with your partner, Ivan, on developing your product: burn cream. It would come in handy for those burnt by a fire (or worse). You were hoping it would skip having to apply ice and let it heal for a long time. However there was still a lot of work that had to be done on it.
You began crossing the grounds, dew from the grass sticking to your shoes. The school's large, white lights were on, insects flocking towards the source.
"Hello _." Ivan smiled as you took your seat next to him. He always wore a sleepy expression, making him seem like a cuddly dog or cat.
"Hello. Did you get any new work done for the project?"
"Yeah, I think so..." He trailed off, flipping through his binders.
The next few weeks would be team work, so the students usually got to begin working as soon as class started.
Score! You thought, No more annoying lectures.
"Here. Could you look it over?" He handed you the limp piece of paper.
"Sure thing. I made some notes myself but I'm not sure how helpful they'll be." You bit your lip. You tried your best to remain positive but this was proving to be more difficult than you first thought. To make matters worse, you couldn't quite remember what inspired you to make this in the first place. Perhaps you read an article somewhere?
"This looks really good Ivan." You smiled.
"Da?"
You nodded, "This'll help us make progress a lot faster. Thanks!"
He smiled slightly, content.
"Oh, Mr. Headmaster!"
You looked up at the teacher who spoke, the formal man standing in the doorway.
"Uh!"
What was this feeling? There was a strange tingling sensation at the back of your neck. You watched as the man entered the room, looking over everyone diligently working. For some reason you couldn't tear your eyes away, his eyes meeting yours.
"Ughn..." The tingling was replaced with a sharp, brief pain, quickly fading.
"_? Are you all right?" Ivan asked. You mindlessly nodded, your eyes fixated on the man stepping closer.
"Ah, Miss _. Nice to see you again." He smiled, a tingling wave rushing down your spine.
"H-headmaster."
"May I ask what project you are working on?" He clasped his hands behind his back, looking on as you quickly brought out your binder full of papers.
"Interesting..." He nodded, flipping through.
He shut the blue binder, smiling at you, "Very interesting indeed. Keep up the good work."
He patted you on the shoulder, instantly swelling with pride. When he left the tingling sensation went away.
"Ivan?" He was staring at you in disbelief, a mixture of being dumbfounded and something else. He looked...angry.
"Hm?" He noticed you said his name, a chipper smile on his face, "Ah, can I see your notes?"
"Sure."
The two of you worked long into the night, him occasionally stopping to stare at you.
Did I do something wrong? Oh no! Maybe I messed up one of the formulas. I'm so dumb he's just beyond words...
You stressed over his odd behavior, him finally standing to stretch.
"That should be enough for one night. See you tomorrow, _." His hand lingered on the top of your head before sliding off, him leaving the room.
You felt reassured by his gesture, ready for a pick-me-up, spending the rest of the night working in your bedroom.
