Mabait sa akin yung pamilya ng asawa ko, lalo na si Bast. He was really cute and... cute... Sana magkaroon din kami ng anak ni Gavin na kasing cute ng kanyang pamangkin. I wonder why they didn't come home on our wedding day?
"Iha, are you alright?" seryosong tanong ng daddy ni Gavin. Marahil, napansin nito yung bigla kong pagtahimik.
"Po...? Hmp... yeah, I'm fine," I answered, stuttering.
"Dad, she's absolutely tired," sabat ni Lav.
Nasa harden pa rin kami, having our dinner. The whole place looked so lovely. I didn't know na ganito pala sila kayaman. Oh God, I couldn't believe myself for telling him before that he needed my Dad's connections in business world. Sa tingin ko, hindi na nila kailangan yung koneksiyon ng pamilya ko para mas lalo pang lalago yung Berrones Winery Corporation.
"Hon, what's wrong?" Gavin asked confusedly, holding my hand. I was sitting right next to him. Nasa tapat naman namin sina Lav at Bast habang nasa driver's seat yung daddy nila.
"It's just that... Ahm... I'm happy to have you as my new family," seryoso kong tugon. And I mean it. They're a wonderful family, almost to perfection. Gavin held my hand a little bit tighter.
"Ohh... You're a Berrones now... You're part of our family since then. So, whatever happens I'm on your side, Soph. Just tell me if my brother..."
But Gavin cut her sister off.
"C'mon, Lav... What are you trying to say?" mariin na tanong ng asawa ko.
"What? I didn't say anything," a teasing smile escaped on Lav's face.
"Hey, nasa harapan kayo ni Sophie. You're acting like 10," saway ng kanilang Daddy. Napansin kong napangiti na rin si Bast.
"Don't worry, Tito Gavin, I'm on your side," sabi ng bata sabay kindat.
"I'm your mother!" Lav exclaimed in disbelief.
And we all laughed, except Gavin's twin sister who still has sympathetic frown expression on the face.
The dinner had ended very well. We talked, laughed, teased and shared different stories. This was the other side of Gavin's life that I wanted to know. Masyado kasi siyang misteryoso noon. Pero ngayon, kilala ko na talaga siya.
And I felt terrible when I've found out that it wasn't Love, it was Lav, short for Laviña and Bast is her son. God, I was so stupid to think that he lied to me. But, he can't blame me. I had no info about his personal life. Still, nagi-guilty pa rin ako. Pinag-selosan ko kasi yung maling tao.
Tanging kami lang dalawa ni Lav ang naiwan sa hapag-kainan. Gavin and their dad were having a serious conversation on the other side of the garden about their business. Si Bast naman pumasok ng bahay dahil may kukunin lang daw to.
"Soph..." biglang tumayo si Lav at umupo sa tabi ko. "Soph, I'm glad you never give up on him. He needs you... You don't know the whole story, I guess, but you're still here, changing his life in a better way and I want to thank you for that," seryoso nitong tugon.
But some lines came from her made me confuse. What was that mean that I don't know the whole story? It was really confusing. Nangangahulugan ba to na marami pa akong hindi alam tungkol sa asawa ko?
I heaved a sigh. "Lav, I love him. And I don't care whatever past he has, whether it's bad or good... Pangako, hinding-hindi ko siya bibitawan," ganti ko at hinawakan ko yung mga kamay niya.
Nagulat na lang ako nang bigla niya akong yakapin. "Maraming salamat, Soph." I hugged her back.
After having some serious conversations with them, pumasok na rin sa bahay sina Lav, Bast at Daddy Julio.
