Thank you for all your wonderful comments and support! I realized I may have set up an expectation of updating nearly every day by some of the please update requests I got, lol. That's okay because I've been excited about writing this, but just to let everyone know, sometimes life will get in the way, like this weekend! My family did a surprise visit yesterday so I couldn't update until today. I couldn't even get to a computer until this morning.

Anyways! As always, please comment and let me know what you think. This chapter was a tough one for me. I'm surprised it's as long as it is.

And ErinWalker9 and TexasGirl75 were right! Sean was a chatty one! 3200 words of chattiness!

**| Sean's POV |**

I was just about ready to leave Owen's place when I was red-lined. I jerked at the shock that went through my front jean pocket before digging out my phone, my heart beating at the thought that someone was hurt. They only red-lined me when someone was really hurt. I pushed away the exhaustion I felt from doing a double shift and answered the phone.

"Please tell me you're just desperate to finally declare your undying love to me," I said, already heading out to my car. Owen was following behind, knowing something was wrong. Seriously. There was no hiding from Owen. He would hunt you down and then stare at you until you caved and told him all your dirty secrets. I know from experience. He's still the only person to know about that one time I swiped a whole apple pie from the cafeteria.

Desperate times called for desperate measures and I was starving.

"Dr. Sean, there was a break-in at my neighbor's house and he tried to take her. She's really hurt now."

I frowned, trying to process what Kota said. "Why haven't you called the police and have her sent to the hospital?"

"She's very persistent about keeping the police out. Says if we call the police, her family will just take her and disappear. Please, come look at her. Her stitches reopened on her forehead and she might have a concussion. And Nathan mentioned something wrong with her ribs."

"Wait," I said, pulling out the driveway. I held my phone out to Owen, who quickly hooked up the phone so we were on speakers. "Owen is with me now and you're on speaker. Are you telling me Sang is hurt?"

"Yes," Kota said.

"Okay," I gripped the steering wheel, making sure I didn't drive the hundred miles per hour that I wanted to go at. Sang's sweet smile flashed through my mind. She looked tired when I met her but she was calm, at least a lot calmer than her older sister was. I was glad I got to treat Sang rather than her bratty sister. "Okay, I'll be there in fifteen minutes. Bring her inside and I'll meet you there. Don't let her move around too much."

"We're bringing her to Nathan's house."

"Good."

I hung up and sighed.

Pookie was hurt. Again.

"What was that about?" Owen asked, as stoic as ever, but I could see the gears turning inside that complex head of his. I had told him about the bird the boys were hiding from us soon after I met Sang and he wasn't happy about that. Now he was going to meet said bird and know right away why everyone was ready to take the world down for her. I knew I was the moment I took in her beautiful green eyes, delicate face, tiny body. And her sadness. The moment I recognized her sadness, I wanted to pull her into my arms and protect her from the world, but I was her doctor and I needed to be professional.
