**| Sang's POV |**

Raven grabbed onto my arm and helped me into the passenger seat of a huge black SUV. He even made sure to buckle me in before closing the door and climbing into the back. Axel got into the driver's seat and everyone else piled in behind us. They were lucky the SUV had another row of seats in the back.

I giggled, wondering what it would look like to see all four of them crammed in the back.

"What's so funny, Pavlin," Raven said from behind me.

"Nothing," I said, shaking my head.

Axel sent me a smile before backing out of Nathan's driveway. As soon as we pulled out onto the road, my eyes widened. An ambulance was sitting in front of the house with other vehicles surrounding them.

"What the fuck?" Marc asked.

My heart thudded against my chest as Axel slowly pulled up behind a car and turned the ignition off. I couldn't keep my eyes off the flashing lights. There was even a police car there. Neighbors were standing around outside, whispering to each other, their eyes never leaving my front door.

Did Volto get to my family? Or Ghost?

I unbuckled my seatbelt and jumped out of the SUV as Raven climbed out. He reached out and tugged on my hand, keeping me from running towards all the emergency lights.

"Marc, go find out what happened," Axel said as Raven pulled me back and kept me out of sight of everyone.

Marc nodded and headed into the crowd of people.

"Do you think—"

"Don't think like that," Axel said, his eyes hard as he scanned the area and all the people. "We don't know anything right now."

I waited, shifting my weight from foot to foot. About five minutes later, Marc came back.

"Report," Axel demanded.

"Mrs. Sorenson is going to the hospital. It seems her health has taken a turn for the worst. Squad is here because she was throwing a fit, breaking shit, and they were called in for the disturbance. When they got here, she collapsed."

"Thank fuck," Raven said but I barely heard him as I ripped my hand out of his grip and ran for the house.

When I got to the driveway, the front door opened and the medics wheeled out a bed with Diane on it. I froze, unable to move as they wheeled her to the ambulance. She had an oxygen mask on her face, her chest heaving. Sweat soaked her face and her brown hair was plastered to her skin.

I felt the presence of the Toma team behind me. Dad and Maria came out of the house, Dad going to the car, not even sparing me a glance. He looked tired, the shadows under his eyes deeper. The cut on his cheek stood out against his pale face.

"Maria," I called out.

She stopped and turned to me, her eyes narrowing on me. I walked towards her, glancing back at Raven and Axel who stood protectively behind me. They walked behind me, giving me space but not letting me out of reach.

"What?" she snapped. Her eyes flickered to the two behind me before focusing back on me.

"What's going on?" I asked, my voice trembling.
