Thank you for your patience! I don't know who reads those message board thingies on my WP page so I'll just let you know here. As many of you are probably aware about, NaNoWriMo has started! *cheers* I will continue to update this story throughout the month, as often as possible, it just won't be almost every day like it has been. Probably with a few more days in between. We are coming to the end of Book One so I'm just as excited as you are for the end of this book and to get started on the next. I can't leaving it hanging for a whole month. I'll be working on this story AFTER I reach my word goals each day for my NaNo project: Nomad 101. Wish me luck and thank you for your patience!

Now enjoy a little Victor time! This was interesting to write and a little hard because it's one of those "how should he react" situations and I wasn't sure. I hope I did him a little justice. Let me know!

**| Sang's POV |**

The drive to Victor's house was quiet, with classical music playing softly in background. I stared out the window, still seeing Mr. McCoy, and then Doukas beating Mr. McCoy. Then Doukas leaving with Mr. McCoy. My emotions were muddled and I couldn't decide if I should be scared of Doukas for what he was going to do with Mr. McCoy or if I should feel relieved.

"I think Volto used Mr. McCoy to get me," I said to Victor.

He glanced over at me.

"What do you mean?"

"He mentioned making a pretty penny off of me. What's a pretty penny?"

I glanced at Victor whose lips were turned down, eyes narrowed. He was gripping his steering wheel hard enough to turn his knuckles white.

"It means he was going to sell you and make a lot of money. He said you were worth a lot."

"Oh."

"Yeah, oh."

I let the silence wrap around me as I took in what he said. Mr. McCoy was going to sell me to Volto. Volto was willing to use whoever he could to get what he wanted and for some reason unknown to me, he was focused on getting me.

"Princess, we don't even know if he was going to hand you over to Volto."

I looked over at him and raised an eyebrow, giving him a look that asked if he was kidding. "So you prefer he was selling me to someone else?"

"What? No! Of course not."

"If Mr. McCoy was selling me to someone and it wasn't to Volto, then to who? Who wants me but him. It had to be Volto."

And truthfully, I wanted it to be him because I knew him. He was capable of hurting me but not shattering me in the way Diane always described to me. I was never touched in that way. If it was someone else, who knew what they would do to me. I shivered just thinking about it. In Greece, I've heard a lot of stories about human trafficking, about girls disappearing to be sold to men. It was a huge problem in Greece and the surrounding countries. They even spent a day talking about it in school.

I curled into myself.

"I'm sorry, Princess."

I shook my head. "You have nothing to be sorry about. Volto knows how to manipulate people, giving them exactly what they want so he gets what he wants."

We pulled up to the gate and he pressed a button to open it. He waved at the gate keeper and pulled up to the house.

The conversation ended as I took in Victor's home. I still couldn't get over how massive it was. From the little bit that I did see, it felt empty, too formal. All those rooms we walked by didn't feel lived in. Only Victor's section did since he did live in it and he wasn't about appearances. He made his area his home. Too bad his home was trapped inside this massive outer shell.
