**| Sang's POV |**

The urge was driving me crazy. I needed to be high up, off the ground. I needed to be as close to the sky as I could be. I needed to be lost.

After Mr. Blackbourne dropped me off at home yesterday, I locked myself up in my room for the rest of the night. I couldn't get what they told me yesterday out of my head and I knew the only way I could stop thinking about it was up in a tree.

I did my normal chores in the morning, my skin itching to get outside. When I finished cleaning the kitchen and picking up after Maria, I left food on the nightstand next to Diane's bed. I noticed Diane was sleeping a lot more lately, which was great for me. It gave me a little more freedom and less worry about if she was going to notice me gone. She looked paler than normal and I think she lost some weight. I would have been concerned if I didn't know better. In a few days, she would be up and about again as if she wasn't sick. She always bounced back.

Knowing I was okay for the day, I snuck outside.

I spent about twenty minutes just wandering around, trying to find a good tree to climb up. I already knew it was going to be a strain but I would be fine. I had no choice but to be fine because I was going to climb a tree even if it hurt. I needed to be up there.

My fingers twitched, wanting to feel bark pressed up against them as I gripped my way up a tree. My legs itched to push me up onto branches. I wanted to be high.

After climbing carefully over a fallen tree, I spotted a tree that I thought would work. I eyed the branches, deciding on the path needed to get up to the top.

I smiled and climbed.

My back and muscles strained and I had to pause about halfway up but when I got up near to the top, all the struggling was worth it.

Kota: Where are you?

Sang: In a tree!

I giggled, feeling exhilarated. I stared through a huge gap in the branches and into the sky. My body slowly relaxed, my heart rate settling. I allowed my mind to wander, not thinking about anything.

My phone buzzed but I ignored it. I needed this and I wasn't going to let their protectiveness ruin it for me. I've been wanting to get up here for a good week now but with my injuries, it would have been nearly impossible.

It didn't take long for my phone to buzz again but I just leaned up against the tree, ignoring it. I gave them ten minutes before someone showed up. I just knew it.

I closed my eyes, feeling the heat against my skin as a light breeze brushed against me.

"Aggele mou, what are you doing up there?"

I opened my eyes and looked down at Silas. He had his hand over his eyes to block the sun so he could get a better look at me. His eyes were squinted.

"Relaxing," I said and closed my eyes again.

"Come back down."

"No thanks."

"It's not safe up there, what if you fall?"

"You know me, Silas. I don't fall."

"You fell once."

"No," I answered. "I tried to fly. There's a difference. I jumped and gravity won."
