**| Sang's POV |**

Choose? Was he kidding? There was no choice in this.

I went to move but Luke tightened his hold on me. I looked up at him. He was staring down at me, shaking his head.

I nodded.

"It's happening, Luke. There is no choice here."

"There is always a choice," he said.

I reached up and stopped before I could touch his face with my bloody hand. He reached up grabbed my hand, bringing it to his lip to kiss my knuckles, not even caring about the blood.

"Not this time. I can't let you guys get hurt," I said. "Remember who I am. I'm a ninja and ninjas know a few tricks. Let me go to him. Let me keep you guys safe. I can't fail."

We stared at each other, my emotions all over my face. His determination faltered and he let me go.

I shuffled forward, fighting vertigo but Mr. Blackbourne and Dr. Sean got in my way.

"Not happening, Miss Sorenson," Mr. Blackbourne said.

"Then we all die and none of us have a chance," I said.

"There has to be another way," Dr. Sean said.

"Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock," Volto said as he waited, his gun still trained on Doukas. Doukas gripped his gun but it stayed at his side because the moment he lifted it was the moment Volto would shoot.

I focused back on Mr. Blackbourne. "Please, give me this. Let me go. I can't survive if something happens to you all."

"And you think we will survive if something happens to you?" Mr. Blackbourne asked, a plea in his voice. He shook his head and swallowed, glancing at the bombs. "He'll just blow us up anyways after you get out of the blasting range and by those bombs, the range is small," Mr. Blackbourne said.

"Oh, I give you my word, Sang. I won't hurt them," Volto said.

"He's lying," Dr. Sean said.

"That's the thing," I said. "He's never lied to me. Never. He said he will do something, and he does. He won't blow you up if I go."

"He can't have you," Doukas snapped. "So be good, Asteráki, and stay put."

"No," I said, shaking my head. I couldn't go through this, not again. They couldn't die. "I'm going. My choice. Trust me," I said, my voice breaking even more.
