"Don't look at him." She tells me, looking over.

"I'm not. Stop moving."

This light needs to turn green.

Cars still fly by in front of us on the road and the light is still red.

"Can I come up now?" She asks looking at the ground.

"No, stay dow-"

"What was that noise?" Alex asks.

"He threw something at the window to get my attention. Don't get up, I'm about to let the window down." I tell her turning up my radio a bit so it looks like I was singing a song instead of talking to someone.

"Hey mate!" Andy says through both of our open windows.

"Hey," I say waving.

"I'm sorry for what happened the other day. How about I make it up to you by going to that new pizza place?" He offers.

"When?" I shout back.

"Right now! It's only 9 o'clock."

"I have to pick Alex up at 7 in the morning because her class starts at 7:15." I make up an excuse.

"Tomorrow isn't your day to pick her up? Tomorrow is Friday." The wind blows hard and Alex's hair flies up and goes back down.

"What was that?" He squints his eyes.

"My friend's dog. It has a lot of hair, but it just got stitches so I can't pick it up. I have to go drop it off, then I'll let you know if I'll join tonight."  I make up a quick lie in my head.

"Oh, which friend?"

When in the hell is this light going to turn green?

"John," I think of a name.

"John who?"

"Johnson." That name sounds sketchy. Dammit

"Okay, well the lights green. See ya, mate."

I drive the opposite direction of Andy on purpose.

Alex comes back up, sighing out of relief that he didn't see her. She puts her seat belt back on and looks at me.

"What?" I say glance a quick look at her then look back at the road.

"I'm a dog? And I belong to John Johnson?" She laughs.

"Your hair went flying like a troll doll and I had to think of something." She laughs at my comment about her hair.

"I'll drop you off at your dorm then go with Andy." She nods and reaches for the iPhone box. She turns it on, installing Andy's number, her mom's, Nikki's and mine. She takes a picture of me while I'm driving and setting it as my contact picture.

"These default backgrounds are ugly." She says scrolling through screen savers that automatically come with the phone.

"I'll send you a wallpaper."  I pull out my phone, sending her the picture at a stop sign.

I pull into her dorm parking lot and get out. We take the elevator to her dorm floor and she unlocks it. Nikki is eating something out of a bowl, watching a movie on the couch.

"Welcome back stranger," Nikki sits her bowl down on the table, getting up to give Alex a hug. Nikki gets off of the couch in a sports bra and pajama shorts. I look off because I don't want Alex to think I fancy her roommate.

"Niall's here." She informs Nikki and she points to the door and I press my lips into a line and look down. She hops back on the couch wrapping herself inside of a huge blanket.
