Song for this chapter:
Let Her Go- Passenger
The Only Exception- Paramore
Niall's P.O.V
After I had sent her my text message she didn't reply. I kept checking my phone for a message from Alex. Whenever Andy and I started fighting, I couldn't stop myself because I had thought he said something or did something to her that made her cry. Her head was buried in the pillow until she got up to see us fighting.
Andy is in the room two doors from mine. He got moved from the ICU a while ago. They did surgery on me as soon as I got here. The glass had broken in my back as it went deeper. I remember seeing Alex flip me over while she was on the phone, then she ran to the trashcan and I heard her hurling.
"Niall, it's time to wake up." The nurse says to me. I look over to the clock and it's 8 in the morning. I only got an hour of sleep. My eyes refused to close because of my mind pacing and wondering about Alex.
The nurse gives me pain killers and a shot to numb the feeling in my back.
"One more day, Horan. Then you get to leave." The nurse with grey haired lady named Debby, says to me. I nod and shrug. I'm ready to go right now.
"Your breakfast will be brought to you in a few minutes. I think it's sausage and eggs today." She laughs a little. Debby knows full well that the food here is shit.
The food is brought to my bed, I look at it and push it back.
"Niall, you have to eat. Having the medications inside of you on an empty stomach will make you sick." Debby says to me, crossing her arms.
"I'm not eating this animal food." It looks disgusting. No one could pay me enough to eat this. It doesn't even smell good.
"Niall, you have to ea-"
"Can I just have a bottle of water, please?" I cut her off. I'm getting irritated by her bossing me around. She sighs, nodding and goes to go get it.
My phone buzzes and I hastily pick it up, unlocking my phone.
From Harry:
How are you feeling mate?
To Harry:
I'm feeling much better, I really appreciate you helping me out, thanks mate.
From Harry:
You're welcome. I did what I could to help you and Alex. She completely broke down outside and I wanted to help.
To Harry:
What do you mean?
From Harry:
She was worried. Hey, I've got to go to work now. I'll visit you when I get off.
The nurse returns with my water bottle and I drink it. It quenches my thirst and pushes down the lump growing in my throat. I never cry, but I just can't stand the thought of Alex being in that state. I could've been there to comfort her. I wouldn't need to comfort her if I didn't fight with her brother yesterday.
