Niall's P.O.V -
The drive to the pet store was freezing because Alex had the air blowing on the highest notch there was, but once she was cooled down, she slipped a different shirt over her sports bra. Her back was disgustingly sweaty and it got on the seat. I handed her a napkin to wipe off the seat and her back.
It smells like dog shit and rodents the second the automatic doors open in front of us. I'm not too fond of animals because they're just too much of a responsibility and they bite. I follow Alex around because I don't have a clue where to go and evidently she does.
"They are so adorable," Alex smiles, petting the glass pretending to touch the big ass rats. I see a long tail follow behind the rodent and my eyes widen whenever one leaps at the glass, and I walk off quickly. I hear Alex laughing at me quietly because she knows I hate those things, they make my flesh crawl.
I spot a few dogs in kennels and stick my finger through the bars to touch the puppies head. Dogs aren't really one of my favorites, but I'd choose this thing over a damn oversized mouse.
"Why is it shaped like this?" I ask the lady who is giving her tiny puppy up for adoption.
"It's a miniature weenier dog." The woman who looks around in her forty's explains to me. I don't know the breed of dogs whenever I see them, except a German Shepard because that's the dog my little sister had before her accident that ripped my life apart.
I nod and walk off, and I hear the dog whining as soon as I step away. That dog cannot come home with me, but in a way I feel bad for it because no one wants it. It reminds me of my life if I think about it. Alex reminds me of the owner and I'm the puppy. I would throw harsh comments at her, call her names, just because I knew it bothered her, but she didn't fully leave me alone still. I knew I was going to end up getting attached to her before we even dated.
"Baby, look what the lady let me hold," I hear Alex's voice and I turn around, mainly only because she called me baby, but I see her holding a tan hamster with eyes that look like giant brown marbles that are going to pop out of it's head.
"Alex, move." Yet, she keeps walking towards me, not like Elle did to her with the spider, but in an innocent and pleading way. She smiles at it like she wants it, but she killed the last one, so why should she get another one? To kill that one too?
"Please, can I get it?" If she makes that little puppy dog sad looking face, I'm walking the hell out of here because I know I'll end up buying it.
I remind her that we didn't come in here to purchase any of the animals, but she walks around the store with it, pretending to show it around until the manager of the store tells her to put it back before she drops it.
We leave the store and Alex talks about how badly she wanted the rodent, but I just turned the radio volume louder to drown out her speech about why she should've gotten it.

One month laterAlex's P.O.V -
It's one in the morning and my phone won't stop vibrating, but I know my mother has been trying to get in contact with me, so I slide the red button over, forwarding the call.
"Answer it, or I will." Niall grumbles with our chests pressed together. He enjoys cuddling just as much as I do and I really appreciate that about him. I shake my head no underneath his cheek and he snatches my phone from behind me.
"What?" He answers the phone in an annoyed voice and I hear him hum yes and okay before hanging up.
"Alex, he woke up." Niall says suddenly not in a groggy tone and I pop up, hitting my head on his jaw from moving so quickly.
